Dune Trader' s Journal - [discussion encouraged]

Long-time smoker, new to growing. I've been doing a lot of research and reading of the subject lately and with the realization that seeds can be bought in the mail, I'm going to give it a try. I actually have a little experience from a guerrilla grow that I did with a friend about ten years ago. He was the leader- I was just there to help. We didn't really do too well, but I feel like I learned a lot from him in the process. I can divulge that this friend committed suicide (the cops screwed with him to no end) soon after that period. He was an all around great guy who only wanted to grow, smoke and listen to music. Never out to hurt anybody. So as I proceed on this adventure, I feel like I have a guardian angel looking over me.

Well, anyway, my situation is fairly unique. I am converting a small, closet room off a balcony into a grow room. The room is technically outside becauase the only door in is from the balcony. The only thing in the room is a heating cooling unit that sucks air from inside and pushes it through the ceiling which turns and leads into ceiling vents in the apartment. I will be working with a space that is about 2.5'W X 5'L X 7.5' H. I'd say it will comfortably fit three or four good size plants. As a bonus, the walls are already painted white. I will still run a plastic sheet to block out the unit though.

The way I see it, this room has a lot of pluses.

I live on the top floor of my building in one of the corners. Nobody can see into the room. I never run the heat in the winter months because we get enough rising heat from the people below us. In the summer, we do run the cooling which indirectly keeps the room at a nice stable temperature. I will be attempting my grow as though it is outside though, just incase temperature and humidity does become difficult to control. I don't think it will though.

Another nice thing is that being outside, the escape for the air is to the outiside so the chance of smell playing any part is null.

Right now, I have dialed in on a HPS 400W lighting system that I should be purchasing within a week or two. The other thing, is to buy the actual seeds of which I am choosing between seedboutique, nirvana and Dr. Chronic. I think I worry about this more than anything. Getting the seeds is a task in itself, than hopefully at least a few will be females.

I have final exams throughout this week, so I;m leaving this subject alone until I'm done. Sometime next week I will proceed with the purchases and post again.

Here's to hoping for a green success.

Just decided my first seed purchase will be through Dr. Chronic. Review pending...
