The Dirty Dozen! My 4th Grow, First Full HPS!

I can't believe a year went by already since my first grow!

Started out with all CFL's last August, added a 400 watt HPS in Jan, but only used it for flowering 2 crops
(well, really only one full one, went away for the summer, they got cut down early)

Got a few grows in between, but this is my OFFICIAL FOURTH, 12 seedlings all from seeds from my first grows pollination

8.22
Paper toweled 16 seeds in a small tupperware

8.24
12 sprouted

I put them in small clear cups (with drainage holes)
with 1xperlite/1xvermiculite/5xpotting (generic, no nutes)

Seedlings popped out of the dirt 8.26!

They are lit by two CFL's 24/7 mere inches away and I have 400 watt hps providing indirect lighting

I plan on vegging under the hps when theys a bit bigger with cfls for more blue
(I have LOTS of blues and LOADS of reds AND the hps)

My grow space is pretty big about 6' x 6' x 9 ' tall, 70 - 80 degrees, 50 - 60% RH

Yields on the previous grows have been OK, no scale to weigh it but I have been smokin my own since January-ish and have saved more than I spent, esp at $80 - $100 / quarter!

Nutes?

Today they look like this!

They need a bit of water at the moment*, but aside from that they are moving along!

*Room was closed up for the entire weekend, every drop of O2 evaporated from all the trays and other humidity control stuff

I am sure the wilting will be gone in a little while...

I am debating about nutes, leaning towards AN Grow A/B or sensi 1, any thoughts?

Last year I used MG tomato food way diluted for all the grows, but I think something kinder to them will be better and since I have about a week or so until I need them I wanted to ask for thoughts here.

TIA

Coming right along, not sure about the nutes, but seems it would be too early. Wait for one of the pro's to give you that info. Good luck.

~2 weeks is too early for nutes?

Just turned off the HPS and added a bunch of CFL's, I think these guys are too young for it...

good point... it's generic potting soil, so I'll just wait and see when they ask for them I guess

I would suggest you put them straight into there final pots now. If they get root bound you'll have a serious problem on your hands, and plus, you don't want them too go into shock and stunt there growth and possibly cause Hermes.

I would, but I just ordered a bunch of grow bags that are not here yet...

I have way too many plants for flowering under a 400 watt hps (space is at a premium) and larger cups will carry them for another two weeks or so and still fit into a small enough footprint so they all get decent light...

Anybody have any opinions on tall pots vs stout (wider) pots? Or is size the only important factor, ie how much soil is more important than how far down the roots can go?

Yeah MG All purpose fert is fine.
I just decided to go organic so I too use the fox farm three pack.
I also have grown from the start under hps. If you want the fastest possible growth, go under the hps. If you are not in a hurry cfl will be fine.
I don't think pot shape is as important as the pot volume.
Since you only have about 400 watts for 12 plants, flowering them soon might be a good idea.

It's a soil grow and for now I am planning on using MG tomato food for vegging, very diluted of course.

Oh and there is one more plant now too!

I left a pot from a past grow in there and was using it to provide a bit of humidity and lo and behold a seedling sprouted

some past grows have been pollinated, but upside is I have LOTS of seeds, someday when I get really good at this farmer stuff I'll buy some quality seeds

Thanks for the info re: pots and such.
