im worried about this. I turned the AC on tonight and the temp has already dropped to 87 but DAMN!! i live in an apt and the AC unit isnt in the same roomas the grow so it doesnt get directly to it. Im gonna watch the temp all night and see what it does. I would love any tips on getting a little stealth setup going. I just need to make it cold Id love to put it by the AC or something . . . . i dont know i dont want these little ones to die!!!

Add more fans.
Maybe put one above your lights to act like a heat sink.
Have one pushing fresh air in to grow space and one pulling air out.

I find fans at Goodwill stores and thrift stores, starting at 1.99.
Wallmart has some cheap new fans, as well as a $49.99 portable fan/a/c cooling unit.

thank you for the help. do u know if that portable ac thing needs to be in a window?? or can i stick it say up on a stool or something??? thank you again for the advice. I have one fan at the entry blowing air in and one fan oscilating right in front of the plants to blow air on them. I have 3 computer fans and an extra pc im thinking of rigging something up with that. Do u know if theres any other way to power pc fans besides a pc??? I dont know i just need them to make it till tomorrow - then ill go and get that portable ac thing maybe. thanks again yo I appreciate it hope they make it so i can share the grow with you all!!!!!

It looks to be self contained, like you could just put it a "closet."
I saw it in the "fan" isle at wallmart.

The only thing I am concerned about with this unit is "how much will it raise humidity" The only directions I noticed from the packaging was to: recharge.
It did NOT appear that it was a "swamp cooler" which you would have add ice, and thus higher humidity.

It appeared to be about the size of a small computer case.

got the temp down to 78.3 over night. hopefully it doesnt raise back up around 90 today. ima check out the a/c cooler thing today. lets hope and pray these babies make it. i know ive been promising pics and will deliver today.

I've been looking at these portable devices for my own grow closet since I'm having similar issues.

There are two different types of machines - a portable AC, and a portable evaporative cooler. The AC units that I've looked at have a hose that you're supposed to run out the window (or maybe into another room?). I'm guessing that the hose is used to vent the hot air that the AC unit produces as it cools the room down. Also, the portble AC units that I've looked at are hellishely expensive ($500+). I actually considered buying a $98 window-mount AC unit and cutting a hole in the closet wall and venting it into the bathroom next door. But I think the roommate might get suspicious.

The evaporative coolers don't require any venting, but they *do* require a significant amount of air circulation for them to work. In an enclosed area like a closet, the humidity will eventually rise to the point that the water in the cooler can no longer evaporate and your cooler turns into an overpriced box fan.

we'll start off slow. left to right P1 P2 P3 from afar after some 90 degree plus temps. this is after last night when i managed to bring the temp down to eventually 78 by morning. so they look a little better than they did. But check out P2 . . . . .

I dont know is she dying??? is this heat stress??? watering problems?? lack of aeration in the soil??? nutes???? I havent nuted at all but i might have slighty overwatered early on might this have released nutes in the fox farm??? I dont know, any info???? I know its sad to see her like this it breaks my heart, If I could trade places with her I would lmao. Im trying to revive her I have by no means lost hope.

Got it down to 78 overnight. wish i could keep it there its 10 in the morning and its at 80.6 so fingers crossed.





heres some pics of the bulb i bought. just for specs. maybe someone could tell me if this is the worst bulb I could ever use and if that might be why P2 is giving me the old F.U.????? cuz thats my luck.




and heres a pic of the little ladies under the lights. the right two bulbs are the sunshine and the left two are the old ones. the lights are on but the flash canceled them out.

I would guess the heat.
It seems like you had +85 degs. temps. during the early portion of this thread.
I wouldn't think anything between 85-95 would kill a plant, but probably would do some damage to a seedling.

Some people have germinated seeds, and found the ugliest seedling turned into the best of the crop.

the temp topped off at 84.6 today so i still need to get it down lower. I didnt make it out to hellmart but i stopped by a goodwill store to look at some fans but to no avail.

ima check on the temp in the middle of the night to see how low it gets hopefully back down to the high 70's.


my boy came thru and blessed me with some fire kush to go with my wannabe kush. cant really tell from the pic how bomb it is but trust me it is. Whats prettier trichomes or titties ??? lol. seriously tho. heres the fire kush . . .

no ur eyes are not deceiving you, those are indeed two rigged up pcfans being powered by a pc in my grow room. I told u I keep it gangster lmao. but its creating quite a bit of airflow and i put the plants right in front of it. sp not bad. and I have an oscilating fan behind it blowing into it and antoher fan blowing in from the entry to hopefully get some outside co2 in. any comments??? feel free to hate on my ghetto rig I do lol.

added another flourescent fixture too. its on its side behind the plants giving them more overall light. I would think. here is a pic looking down at the main "double fixture" and the single one on its side behind it. thats not where i put the plants there only there for pictures. I basically put them right in front of the pc fans with P1 a little elevated to stop the stretch and a little bit further back so it doesnt get as much wind sa P2 and P3
