Newb grow-cfl: Bagseed + SpeedQueen

My Speed Queens came in today Thought i'd get the grow journal setup and i'll start by taking a quick picture of my cab. I know the quality is whack, my camera phone is 1megapixle so bare with me.



In the top left is the exhust fan.
Next is the CFL's - 26/20/15 = 61 watts. ** Will expand as needed, schedual is 20/4
I've lined the inside using the dull side of tin foil.

You can get a little view of the bagseed thats been going for about 3 weeks. It had a rough start, but its been green for the last 2 weeks and working on its 6th set of leaves started lst on it. Started feeding it 1/4 strength MG tomato food stuff (20-20-20) which is the only kind I have and I know it should work for now. Im feeding it every other watering - watering once a day with about 1oz of water (I'm checking the soil very carefully as to avoid overwatering issues - killed 2 plants doing this). The soil mix is roughly 60% Shultz catcus and succulent organic potting mix and 40% shultz perlite and its working good.

I've got 3 Speed Queens in a paper towel seal up chilling in a dark place, hopefully I can plant them sometime tomorrow.

Lmao !Well you wont have to worry much about over watering with that mix!!!Watch the ph as most cacti mix's are more alkaline than regular potting minx's.Cacti like it abit Sweet.

I mixed the soil with dolomite and got the ph in a good range, the bagseed has been doing good since I transplanted so its working out. I added that amount of perlite because I had a problem with the soil clumping up. I guess that could have been fixed with less water and sand(?) so i'll remember that next time. I've heard of other people doing 50/50 so i'm hoping the mix doesn't cause any problems.

I had good luck with the speed queen, didnt grow very tall but responded VERY well to LST

Its been about 12 hours and i'm seeing a root pop out of one of the seeds already!!! Man i'm excited about these. Looks like i'll be able to plant them tonight after all

Bagseed doing good 6th set of leaves coming along, I can see the 7th set forming.

Not much today. Bagseed grew a tiny bit; 7th leaf set is starting to take off - plant is only a little over 6 inchs... Today I watered with 1oz of 1/4 strength nutes. I've also noticed its starting to smell like dank Yeeeee

These are really some quality seeds! I would recommend Mendela from now on. I had one seed showing a taproot @ 12 hours and @ 24 hours it was long enough to plant. The other two have cracked and still have a little while longer to go. I'm trying to see if I can borrow a memory stick for my sony camera so I can get some better picks. If I ain't got it by the end of next week i'm gonna go buy the cheapest one I can find.

No pictures today, not much has changed.

Bagseed has grown another set of leaves - thinking of transplanting outside in another few days when all the speed queens sprouted.

Soil is a little damp, no water yesterday, today and maybe tomorrow.

One of the SpeedQueens sprouted up! I also pushed aside a little dirt in the other 2 pots and they will sproute with in the next day or two. I added another 20watts of red spectrum. Total of 46watts BLUE and 35watts RED.

Getting really excited! I hope this grow doesn't go to shit - i've researched countless hours and pages of material!

So today is not really much of an update... just remding myself to go out and get a 128mb memorystick for my digi (dsc-s70; it jets the job done) and some yeast for ghetto c02. Plants looking ok. I nute burned the bagseed earlier this week. Flushed, plant has recovered. Speed queen sproutes are going good, second real set of leaves starting to form and grow out.

Lack of updates because I cant get ahold of a decent camera right now.

As of this date...

Bagseed = male
SQ#1 = died. overwating.
SQ#2 = died. overwating, again.
SQ#3 = female! 2-3wks left!!!

My girlfriend has a digi, I would really love to take pics of the harvest since its coming up so i'll see how that goes. I didn't mean to keep everyone in the dark, I just figured nobody wanted to look at crappy cellphone pictures all the time. Also, dont be a dick and laugh because someones plants died, not really funny at all.

I'm also not growing in my cab anymore. The plant is located in my closet. Switched up the lights, 23wX3(red) 23wX1(blue) and 13wX1(red) positioned at the bottom. I got rid of the cactus and perlite and went with a local brand called "Supersoil," its been working really well. I dont really have a problem with airy buds, but they are growing slower than i'd like. I've heard about strains that dont pack on weight until the last 2wks, anyone else growing SpeedQueen notice this? I promise I will at very least have high quality pics for havest. Hoping to pull anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2oz.

Question: I plan on just cutting the bud off and then reveggin the plant and keeping it as a mother. I would still be able to keep it as a mom and take clones from it right? After Christmas I plan on ordering a 150w envirolite (200w if I can find shipping to the US!!) and will try and attempt SOG.

Tried to get an alright picture of the top cola. Its about the size of my fist. On Thanksgiving i'm going to cut the main cola + some lower nugs that got more light love. I'm gonna leave the lower stuff alone and revegg the plant. No more nutrient love, after about 4 days of no water I flushed and its just water from now on.

I figured an update would be in order before people start thinking I killed it. I'm having a problem with my phone (verizon) not emailing my pictures to my comcast address. What does that mean? Well, I had pictures of the harvest, the new supplies i bought, the hash oil I made out of all the leaves, and the plant itself. When a group of Mexicans (i have them on video, i'm not being racist) broke into my truck, they stole my damn phone with the mini-sd card thats got all my damn photos and videos on it.



This is the only picture I have from around harvest time. This is after I cut it up, before reveg and transplanting. After the plant revegged itself, it got transplanted.

- A big problem from the last grow was that I put it in a small container (less than 1gal). I dont think i'll have this problem with a 7gallon bucket

- Another problem was lights. I flowered under all 23w cfl's @ 2700k. Thats not bad, but I kept feeling like I needed more light - the 23watt bulbs just didn't seem to penetrate enough. Right now I have 2x42w bulbs and 2x23w bulbs, that gives me 130watts, somewhere around 8000-9000lumens focused on a 1'x1' area, the 42watters are BRIGHT.

- Another problem was pH! I learned never to try and guess what your ph is. I guessed and ended up with a ph in the high 7's / low 8's! This time around I got a ph test kit so I can at least test the water I put into the soil. Bottled water = 7.0 , Bottled water w/ nutrients = 6.4.

- My biggest problem, the one that affected the yield THE MOST - was a spider mite infestation I was totally oblivious too the whole time. My guess is I got infected from leaving the plant outside on sunny days to get better light. I now have bottles of insecticidal soap and neem oil to kill these fuckers if they show up again.

At the end of it all, I was left with about a quarter of speedqueen - a really nice, heady smoke. On top of that I was handed down something from God. Better than anything you could ever buy - I was handed down the ability to grow my own marijuana, theres no turning back now!

This is where we are at now... After a 2 week revegg period, and a 2 week veg period - I switched to 12/12 and we officially start round 2 Wish me luck! THIS IS THE LAST ROUND. After this round I cut it, hopefully it'll smell better(i've read when you just cut the buds off from the main stem it doesn't allow them to dry right). I'm strongly considering moving on to another strain. Theres nothing wrong with SpeedQueen - it will always have a home with me I really didn't like spending all that time on the bagseed and have it come up male - i'd like to avoid repeating the process if I can. Before the next outdoor season starts i'm planning on ordering some femmed seeds.



I tied some of the branchs down so they spread out more and get better light - i'm hoping the next week or so of 12/12 i'll start to see the nodes stretch out more. It doesn't look so big, but theres a whole shitload of new leaf sets exploding in that lil area - my camera cant really go into it that good.
