DAY 053 from seed

Guess what? The pistils have arrived. Too bad my camera sucks at close ups.
I watered the plants yesterday, 2 liters per container, that should take care of things for a week or so.
Got a bit of yellowing at the lowest leave pair so I mixed in a few nutes as well....sticking to the manufacturers recommended dosage this time around...

One of the plants has a set of leaves that look like they are underwatered still, but they are not.
They are getting better though and the rest new growth included looks just about right to me.
Here see for yourself :

Chopperview:

As you can see I'm tying the plants to the screen using those small orange solid copper wires. Easy to work with.
The LST and the support for the screens are done with fat solid copper wire.
Still easy to work with.
My first SCROG is beginning to take shape!
I must admit the plants look pretty skinny compared to the pure Indicas I grew before, but I'm just guessing this is what you get for growing plants that are mostly Sativa.
I tried finding a complete start to finish growjournal on GC and the web but failed to find one, all show only the flowering periods when nearly finished.
Does anyone know where I can find such a journal?
Or is GC getting an 'exclusive' from me?

DAY 057 from seed

All is w(h)ell in the Netherworld...uhhm...lands.
The two LST-ed plants seem be growing the faster then the two SCROGged plants while the single SCROG plants is biggest of all....probably just a fluke or something....the SCROGs are supposed to win.
No new yellow leaves since the nuting, everything seems to be in order.

I'm thinking of throwing in another fan or making another air intake hole.
The left side of my growbox is getting noticebly warmer then the right side, now I have installed all those reflectors on the CFLs.
As you can see on the photo's there not much room for air to be push down from above the CFLs and fluros because of the way this grow(box) is constructed.
Not enough to burn the plants on the left side when compared to the right, but it does create temperature differences of a few degrees.
It will not be an issue when I fire up the HPS for flowering, only the last stage of the SCROG with the fluros since ventilation will be at its worst then because of all the leaves that will be in the way.
Me being a cheap fluros-for-vegging bastard and all, I'm probably gonna go for a extra air intake hole since it's passive 'technology' that does not require electricity and thus money.
Now I think of it it's probably best if I construct it such that it can be repeatedly reclosed and reopend, because for the HPS later on it will be best that the air will come in through the current air intake hole which is top left, so the air runs into the HPS right after coming in to box.

This may illustration may help to understand the issue :

So? What do you all think is best? Extra intake hole or ventilator inside the box near the 'hotspot'

And now the most interesting part of this post...the plants :

Ideas comments rants flames or praisal anyone?

Yeah I'm pretty much frugal all across the board.

Don't you know the joke about who invented the copperwire?
Two Dutchmen fighting over a 1 cent copper coin.

It's a common attitude here in the Netherworld....uhhm...lands.
If it's not economical you're being wasteful and thus anti-social.

If you drive a big SUV then you messing up the environment a lot more then the next guy who's walking down the street.
But still both will have to breath the same poluted air and so will their children.
It's about not forcing other people take the unnecesary burden of your existence.
Socialism is not about communism its about equality.

Sentiment over here says only anti-social assholes get rich.
(or lucky pricks, but they are outnumber by the assholes over 1:1000)

Things like honesty, sincerity, fairness and righteousness get you nowhere financially.
So much for capitalism!

Maybe it a WW2 thing ; you know after the war your country is in shits and nobody has nothing so you'd better share after you got something because letting the neighbour starve for food made you just as bad as the German occupiers. If you did choose to let the neighbour starve to death then that would make all that killing in the war useless.
Like many of my generation, my mom & dad grew up while Europe was still in ruins.

So what's a G35?

Frugal; congrats, that's what I like to here. It is absolutely possible to be frugal, honest, sincere, sentimental etc and become a millionaire while conducting business all the while. It is how most of the self made, one generation, millionairs act out here in the US. Incedentally, a lot of those millionairs are from other countries, especially those that have seen devastating war and or third world countries. Anyway, I do like that copper wire joke.

A G35 is the tan car with tinted windows pictured in your profile pictures.

Well...maybe there's hope for me yet.
No plans here on migrating to the US or on becoming a millionaire though!
I don't think they'd let me pass customs with half a pound and plentyful supply of MJ seeds.

DAY 062 from seed

I think growth is up to an inch per day now things are going really fast.
The plants are still producing pistils and are starting to smell slightly.
Since it's been 8 days since the last watering I'm thinking of doing it tomorrow including a small dose of epsom salt just to make sure there's enough Mg and S in there since the nutes don't contain any.
Then again...maybe I delay it for another 2 weeks or so... as you can see I'm in no rush and the plants are not complaining.
I'm really starting to like scrogging ; going around 180 degrees to make the plant grow the other way around is going to be easy.
I'm kinda wondering here how many times I'll be able to do 180 degrees and grow the other way around before I run out of space.
I'm hoping for twice which would lead to a flattend S shape 4 feet long before I hit 12/12.
Wouldn't it be nice if I could flower two plants allmost 5 feet long on a flat surface in a 8 gallon container?
Yeah, you guessed it I'm dreaming of monster yields already.

See the progress :

Hi Islandmon!
Welcome to the show!

I'm not making any promises yet for monster yields.... my last three grows/yields all suffered from me : soil goes bad after adding too much nutes and water.
Hence the signature.

Speaking of waterings, it's been 9 days now since the last time I watered them so today again I gave each pot 2 liters of water with about 1/4 teaspoon of Epsom Salt mixed in it.
This time I'm sticking to SmknVTEC's advise :
http://forum.grasscity.com/1602100-post65.html
No big changes ; no big mistakes. (I hope)

Glad to be here Fear! Humm, sounds all too familiar...too much ferting, too much watering...plants suffering at my lack of a green thumb, lol.

Wow, 9 days between waterings. My plant would be shrivled like a grape going that long.

SmknVTEC - tiz an excellent quote!

Cheers for those no mistakes MJ growers out there...I'll be mistake free someday...just not today.

UPDATE DAY 064 SINCE I STUCK THE SEEDS IN THE SOIL

Temperatures outside have dropped quite a bit, and so did the temperatures in my growbox.
Currently running at 21C/70F and this noticable slowed down growth a bit, about 1/2 an inch a day now.
Still I'm content, still no real issues except maybe for the messyness on some plants.
Excessive branching may prohibit me from making an S-shape SCROG, for the side branches would overlap each other.
Maybe I'll prune the big fan leaves away so it'll be more clear what's possible and what's not.
I'm not sure if this is wise and not sure it would be fair to the LST-ed plants who are not nearly as horizontal as the SCROG plants.

Now I mention it I'm starting to doubt wether this is a real SCROG I'm doing.
The SCROGs I've seen all have trees shapes and are stuck below the screen.
My growth is on top of the screen, because I figured this would be best with fluros since they have little penetration.
Does this mean that a 'true' SCROG requires a HID and is always below the screen?
Or are fluro SCROGs simply really close to the ground?

Anyway here are the pics :

Maybe the term SCRLST would be more appropriate to my grow?
Or SCRLOST.

UPDATE DAY 068 SINCE I STUCK THE SEEDS IN THE SOIL

All is well.
A slight N def. maybe, I'll give 'em some nutes the next time I water but I'll have to wait with that, it's been only 7 days.
No rush.

Looks like I'll be running out of space on the screen in a week or two.
Especially the two plants that are sharing the soil in 1 container and are SCROGged are growing sideways rapidly.
This makes it impossible for me to route the main stems back the other way around.
The two sharing 1 container LST style do not seem to branch out this much.

When I do run out of space, I'll probably let the plants grow vertically for a while, somewhere between 6 to 12 inches of vertical growth on top of the screen sounds good to me.
This because I don't think these plants will continue to strecht alot when I hit 12/12 after about two months of vegging.
(I could be wrong here, it's a mainly Sativa hybrid, please correct me if you know otherwise)
I'm not planning on letting the main bud formations sit in contact with the screen all the time, that just doesn't seem right to me.

Anyway, here have a look at what's going on inside my growbox :

Have a nice grow!

UPDATE DAY 072 SINCE I STUCK THE SEEDS IN THE SOIL

It's been 10 days without watering and that proved to be a little too long.
Not that they're turning yellow or anything but they're drooping and growth has practically halted since DAY 068.
So I watered them today 2L per 30L container, normal strength 15-30-15 MG nutes and the next watering should be around DAY 077, which is 5 days from now.
Maybe I'll even go on DAY076, because the soil is extra dry now.

I know this has promoted root growth and did not mess up the soil as overwatering does but still I'm not happy with it.

Here, see what underwatering looks like :
