First Grow With Bag Seed

This would be my first grow ever. I had some real dank headies about two weeks ago and it must have come from a hermie or something because i found about 6 seeds in with it. so i decided what the hell and talked to a friend of mine that also is my neighbor. long story short we decided to grow outdoors. i stated germing and it was all smooth sailing until i put the sprouted seeds in the soil. i've heard that florescents work great for germing so i got these light bulbs that looked kind of like florescents. They ended up burning the sprout of my 2nd plant. so i took them away from that evil light and put them under regular floros that i just found.

Bellow are some pics i took enjoy because ill be posting every once and a while looking for advice because im sure ill need it.

these are pics of one of four seeds in my grow.

and here is a pic f that evil light bulb

Hey there Falling_jihad welcome to GC

That `evil light bulb` as you call it looks to me as the perfect spiral CFL for starting off a seedling how close did you have the bulb to the sprout ?

Also what kinda of soil is that you are using ? normal garden soil ?

How often have you been watering it ?

hey, its me again thanks for replying. That light was about five or six inches from the tops of the cups. I also had a fan under the light so it wouldn't get to hot. The soil wasn't miracle gro if thats what you were asking, it is regular potting soil with no added nutes or ferts.

Now that i replaced that light two of the plants are growing great. up until yesterday only one had sprouted and the rest were still under the soil. i just checked and another has sprouted yay, but im a little worried about the other two. they have been in the soil since Friday and under reular cfl's since saturday night.

Oh yeah, one of my sprouts is so tall now that it is touching the seran, should i take the seran off and let it grow like that?

Here are pics.

This is what im growing under

These are the two unsprouted plants

these are the two that are growing

Ok Ok... calm down now

I've never used saran wrap. I've always succeeded in growing seedlings... just not alwayas the elder plants. Actually that's not true. I accidentally killed a couple of seedlings with my piss once .. that's off topic.

Anyway.. When i plant the germinated seed, I don't apply light until the seed sprouts I let the sprout grow to about 1/2" tall it'll be white, then I apply light. CFl's like the one you showed work great. Maybe the saran wrap acted like a magnifying glass, maybe light refracted through the plastic and burnt your seedlings but i doubt the cfl would at 6 inches away. Ditch the saran wrap, put any seedlings that haven't reached 1/2" into darkness. keep em moist but not soaked.

hey thanks alot i just read your post TheCloset, i just took the serran off of the two that are growing and put back under the light.

i know i probly shouldn't have done this but i dug up one of the non-growing plants and saw that the tap root was dead. i inspected the rest of the seed and saw that the shell had closed up and cut off the tap root.

does anyone know what i did wrong and tell me if this might have happened to the other one?

so i was looking at my plants and decided to update this journal just in case anyone cares.

if you read the previous reply i did loose a seedling and im not sure about the other one, but there are two that are doing great. i had to take off the seran b/c the leaves were touching it (i only had it on there to keep the moister in the cups) i am squirting them with water about once everyday. the first set of actual leaves are clearly visible. i have them under the same florescent lights (they are huge as hell and a bitch to conceal). I would like to mention hat i plan on moving these outdoors.

An can anyone tell me when i should transfer them outside.

i checked the plants and they are all doing well with the exception of one. I think i have accepted the fact that i fucked up... badly. after reading alot of these comments i have decided to give that evil bulb a try again. The truth is the only reason why im going back to that thing is because it isn't a bitch to conceal like the long CFLs.

I have two questions:

first i noticed that growth has slowed down compared to how it was growing for the past few days. So can any one tell me what is wrong? Is this natural? and what i might have done wrong?

Second can someone tell me when a good time for transferring them outside?

What's up dude. To bad you were'nt my neighbor. I just threw, actually they're still in my trash can, like 10 rooted clones away. Not enough room for them in my grow space. Anyways, when I started mine off from seed it was a kinda slow process for like the first two weeks. Then they just took off. I was using HPS and averaging about 1/2" a day. I also noticed that they grow faster when the soil is dry but when theyre real young you have to be careful not to let the young roots dry out. I moved my plant outside after it was about 16' tall. It's been outside for a week now and doing fine but it was growing alot more vigorously inside under 24hr light. Of course. I'll upload a pic of the plant I moved outside so you can see. I wanna clone like 50 of these things and veg them for awhile then take them up to the mopuntains and just leave them and see what happens. I'll wait till theyre like14" so they havwe a better chance of survival.

thanks for the incite i think i will wait till they grow a bit more till i put them outside.

just as an update, the two are doing well and i have them under that evil light again (no burning... so far). however i did find out that the other non growing seedling died. i watered and drained the ones that are growing yesterday.

here is a pick of them.
