2nd Grow - White Widow

My first grow is still underway but iv decided to get a coupla white widow seeds going, i germed them in 2 saucers wit paper towels, they popped after a coupla days, one of the taproots was really long the other was normal length, i put them in rockwool cubes with about a teaspoon of soil in the plug thing, just checked on them and theyv sprouted! got them under a 150W Envirolite cool white, i had lil plastic bags over them to keep moisture in but i took them off cos i saw the plants had sprouted, is this right or should i have left the bags on for a bit longer? i know newly sprouted plants need high RH so i think i should have left them on but not too sure, anyway pics soon replies apprecciated!

bit of stretching on the right plant, shouldnt be a problem though, the lights are pretty close so hopefully it wont stretch anymore! gona get a fan on them asap too so that should improve things too, hopin for some fast growth here, i cant wait to transplant into their big pots

time for an update! only one of those plants seeded in rockwool survived, the other one just couldnt hack it and was looking sickly after a week so i pulled it, i put 2 more seeds in to germinate and iv got them under 2 150 Watt CFL's, theyv been on 24/7 for about a week, im switching them to 18/6 tonight, getting a new cabinet tomorrow, here are some pics of the plants when i first transplanted and then in their temp setup:

the plant closest has actually been growing for about a week longer than the other 2, but due to not transplanting the other two have caught up considerably and have much wider more indica type leaves, that other one looks much more sativa, which is weird cos theyr all WW seeds! im hoping to get 3 females outa this but il settle for 2, i just better not get only 1 female (or even worse none) more pics tomorrow when the cab arrives:-)

pretty impressive for 6 days (above), mine took 9 days to get nearly that big. Maybe its the light your using

3 plants only eh :s yeah pray for some females. But then again 10 plants could all be male if you have bad luck

What light are you gonna finish veging them/flowering them in?

thanks cretin, the two in the back of the pic were both germed and planted 6 days AFTER the one in front, but i transplanted them before the other one so they shot up, i think the plant in front was rootbound hence the slow growth, hopefully it will recover and explode in growth tonight! im planning on using the 2 cool white 150W CFLs along with a 125W red envirolite for vegging and a 250W HPS for flowering, im waiting on my new cab so as soon as that arrives new pics will be posted!

here are some more pics, the little widows have been growing constantly, well the younger ones anyway which have overtaken their older sister! the one i didnt transplant til later hasnt grown much, i think i might have damaged some roots while transplanting theres a small area of light green on the left side of only one of the big fan leaves, its in pic number 2 on the top leaf, any ideas what it is? also some fert burn as my friend who was looking after the plants fed them flower ferts on his own initiative! anyway pic one is the older of the 3:

im still waitin for my cab so theyr just under lights strung up at the mo, hopefully when i get the cab and get the environment dialled theyl really take off! would really like to know what those light green areas are all about so replies apprecciated,

ok the cabinet is finaly here, took me about 2 hours of some serious sweating to make it habitable for my girls, its not perfect but itl do, theres a fan on the right out of the picture, its quite powerful even on the slow setting, makes me think i should use it as an exhaust fan! this cab would definitely favour flouros as its long and low, im gona have to do some major LST on these bitches if i dont want them to outgrow their areas, anyway check it out!



is it too early to top these? theyr at their 3rd node for the two younger (yet bigger) plants, and 4th for the older, more sativa dominant one. i know you can top at the 3rd node but iv heard its sometimes best to wait, although in this case id say the plants could take it as apart from some minor fert burn and heat stress theyr ok, im probably going to do it tomoro unless someone replies saying its not a good idea. here are some pics of the plants:

this is the oldest, WW, supposed to be indica but looks like i got a sativa plant! i wonder what it is? what was blended with what to make WW, does anyone know?

oh and i forgot to ask, when can i begin feeding them with veg nutes, are these plants still classed as seedlings...?

thanks to dier for his reply to my pm, he said i should wait til i transplant into their next container before i start nutes. here is another update!:

here is the now very almost finished cabinet, i say very almost cos im now thinking about making a mum section on the right where the floor hasnt been pulled out, iv used foam mountboard to seal the bottom, took awhile but definitely easier than making somethin outa mdf! its pretty much light tight, although i anticipate a glow coming through the mountboard when the lights (outside) are off. temps are holding at 26.1 wit the doors open, DEFINITELY going to need another fan in there, at the moment the fan i had blowing over the canopy is pointed at the light, this has brought the temps down about 2 degrees.

ok so iv just added another oscillating fan into my cab, that brings the total to 2 12cm CPU fans 1 6inch desk fan (to cool the light) and one 12 inch oscillating fan to keep the air moving, there is ALOT of air movement in the cabinet now, cant be a bad thing! i just picked up the ballast and it burnt me, this makes me abit worried as on the side it says 50C which im guessing is the temperature it should be kept UNDER! i had no idea ballasts could get THAT hot...the babys have been absolutely LOVING the new light, theyv filled out loads, lookin really good, cant wait to see how they look when i next transplant! im hoping to sex them before that as i think 3 is pushing it for this light, i want to go for a scrog as this cabinet suits it perfectly and i love seeing hundreds of lil budsites!

i noticed some white circles on the leaves of all three plants, when i rubbed the leaves they came off, i think this is due to my misting last night at bedtime (for the plants) im hoping its this and not spidermites, i looked carefully for eggs and couldnt see any but some confirmation would be nice!

I believe it is the water, i had same thing happen and im pretty sure its salts in water. I just switched over to reverse osmosis water and barely mist. I let the roots do the feeding

iv just lowered the light in my cab cos i had a feeling it was too far away after looking at a light chart, its now about 10 inches from the tops, and strangely enough the temperatures went DOWN!, now at 23.3, well pleased! i guess its cos the fan was blowing harder at the light which has cooled it even better, result anyway im hoping to paint the cab today, wana replace the shitty mylar job wit flat white asap! i will post pics if this gets done today
