I started posting about this grow in a thread in indoor growing, but figured this is a better place for it so I'll start posting all my updates here. General overview of my grow: Right now I have 25 plants (10 Ice, 10 California Orange, 10 Bubble Gum, and 2 Sour Diesel) which are 13 days old, from sprouting. They are about 31 inches from a 1000w MH. As soon as the 1000w isn't enough for all of them I'm gonna kill the weakest ones. Hoping to end up with 9-12 plants in the end. 20 of them are in a mixture of 60% Miracle Grow, 20% Perlite and 20% Vermiculite. Four are in 60% Miracle Grow and 40% Perlite and one's in 75% Miracle Grow and 25% Perlite (working with what I was able to get around here). When I water (which has only been once, not including flushing the soil before transplanting) it's been with pH adjust water to try and bring the soil pH up. The first time it was flushed, the runoff was around 5-5.5. After the first watering the runoff was 5.5-6 so hopefully the pH will be around 6.5 after one or two more waterings. Unfortunately, for the first 5 days the temperature was in the upper 60's and the next 5 were in the low 70's with the humidity in the mid to upper 20's. Now, the temperature ranges from 76-80 and the humidity hangs around 45%. I turn the fan on about 3 times a day for about fifteen minutes and the temperature drops to the low 70's and the humidity to upper 20's while the fan is on. I think they might be lagging a bit behind due to their cool, dry start, but hopefully they'll be okay now that the conditions are better. Right now they're starting to show the 2nd and 3rd leaves on what I'm assuming will turn into the first node (can see in the pictures). I've noticed the edges of some plants that look healthy otherwise are curled up a little, I thought this might have been from the low humidity but now the humidity is in an acceptable range and they don't appear to be uncurling. I'll be updating this log on most days and will include pictures most of the time. Any input and/or support is definitely appreciated. Here are links to the beginning of this grow and to two potential problems I noticed today. The first one involves a few brown spots on one plant and the other about a few tiny white dots (which I'm hoping aren't spider mites). http://forum.grasscity.com/general-i...light=1st+grow http://forum.grasscity.com/sick-plan...one-plant.html http://forum.grasscity.com/sick-plan...der-mites.html oh ya, and the humidity is low in that picture because i just had the fan on... and the frog humidifier was the highest rated one they had a target, plus it fits the feel of the room ![]() - Sk8 |

Instead of killing off the "weakest ones" just wait till you know the sex of the plants and take out the males. You'll still be left with 12 plants or so, but if you do it the other way, you may only be left with 5 or 6 females in the end. Good looking set up so far though, can't wait to see those babies up and growing.

It's now been 16 days and most of them seem to be doing pretty well... I think. They were looked a little lifeless yesterday, but I watered them for the second time and now today they look very happy again. The humidity is hanging in the mid 40's and the temperature in the upper 70's and low 80's. The pH of the run off was ~6, which is up another 0.5 from the first watering, so hopefully after one more the soil pH will be right where it should be. Most of them are well on their way to the third node (if the first 3 leaf growth counts as a node) and about 4 inches. I noticed some growth that reminds me of preflowers at the base of their first node, and on some the second node. I'm assuming they're not preflowers since the plants are only at their third node and 16 days old but I was hoping you guys could give me some idea of what they are. Also, when I was watering them yesterday I noticed a few (as in two or three of 25) have shown A root through the bottom. How long should I wait to transplant them? I was planning on waiting for them to get to 8-12 inches or so (I read somewhere about a foot a gallon is good), but should I do it sooner? Lastly, when should I do my first flush. Since they are in a soil comprised of about 60% Miracle Grow, I was hoping to do it sooner rather than later. As always, expect pictures and updates in the near future. -Sk8 |

Thanks for all the replies! 20 days actually works pretty well, I guess I'll transplant them after their next watering. I'd like to do them all at the same time, so if most of them are showing roots and only a few aren't, would it be acceptable to just transplant them all, or would you recommend transplanting them as their ready? |

well, how are things going? I am sure all your plants have gotten quite big by now. I would recommend fimming them( do a search) and then letting them sit til they get little leaves again then transplant them into 6 inch pots. let them get about one and a half feet tall with the 6 " , then to a 10" or 12" 14" , since you have 13 plants, I would recommend 10" pots. they will thrive well, and then if you have time, maybe you can transplant to a 5 gallon bucket? who knows. well, I would start flushing the soil a week before transplant, then transplant into some good organic soil. I recommend ocean forest by foxfarm, it works very well when mixed with a little vermiculite, blood meal, worm castings, the foxfarm light weight hydro/organic soil that is comprimised of vermiculite and I think its a peat mossy material, you mix that half and half with ocean forest, then add the blood meal, and worm castings sparingly, they are very potent indeed.also add some bat guano sparingly, its great , but potent. thats a great mix, all the plants i've seen with it turned out nuclear in terms of quality, potentcy, and taste. just make sure NOT to overwater, and you'll be good ( maybe use some weak boticare pro veg nutes every 3rd watering for veg, and pro bloom for bloom ;* ) . my recommendations good luck
