I rotated them a few times but after the Blueberry plant became so big it started to shade the others no matter what I did. I was making it into a bush, but it ended up not being as cool as I thought it would be...

The way they can just recover from being snapped is just insane. You would think it would at least droop a little or something- but the side branches move up towards the light in a couple hours like nothing ever happened! I've been studying it- it's a natural process that happens in the wild and it's really interesting to see them use what would be a weakness as their strength.

It has a flimsy stem because it is designed to blow over in the wind in order to even out the canopy and allow for the most light coverage on a wild thicket of marijuana. It's how the plant achieves it's maximum yeild outdoors- by being blown over and growing more tops. It's like the Giant Sequioias of California- they have to be burned in order to reach their maximum potential. They use weakness as strength. Absolutely incredible

Ding Ding Ding....What do we have for him Johnie??? A BRAND NEW CAR!!!! No, but really it doesn't get much better than to nickname yourself after a scientist that spent his time studying resin producing plants.

The girls (confirmed) have been under 12/12 now for a couple of days and its starting to get really exciting. We got the ducting installed and clones have been drawn bout a week ago. We will update with some pics this weekend. hopefully soon we can give you some budshots

A GreenTree's multiflow? Or just the same idea?

It's a great setup from what I've seen so far. It has it's problems (a lot of work, and I've had a pump fail from getting air inside it) but with the proper equipment I think you could get one of these babies on an easy maintenence program.

If I had the money or the knowlege before hand I would have got a bunch of stuff that would make it easier but that's the path of the n00b I guess...

One thing about the system is with less buckets the system holds with water in the buckets for 10-15 minutes, so for all that time the roots are submerged with no oxygen. The buckets also hold about an inch of water at the bottom at all times too- which means the bigger the plants get the more roots are always submerged. People put the buckets up on plywood to drain them more but it's not completely.

The system works very well dispite this though- the plants appear very healthy regardless. I think the amount of oxygen the roots get after the water drains out makes up for it- but some air stones here and there couldn't hurt things... Plus it could add some security if a pump failed if set up right.

I might be customizing one of these systems with airstones to increase the amount of oxygen that is available to the roots at all times. You could also rig up the stones to the controller so they ran when the pumps run (and would stay on if a pump failed) You would need another set of stones ran off a timer too so that air would be going when the controller held for 10-15 minutes or for the times in-between floods. With so much air you might be able to flood the system even more often, making the solution fresher plus more air... Could be a good idea...

The system works fine without airstones though so maybe I'm just being a perfectionist... What do you guess think?

Also I must add that a set of Sunlift light hangers I bought gave me hell this morning trying to raise the light a bit. In the end I had to give up on it and go to work but it was very frustrating. I'm not sure what the problem is with it but maybe I'll be able to fix it later tonight... If not I have to rig up some chains and S-clips, which wouldn't be that big of a deal if the tent wasn't filled to the brim with plants or I could get to the other side of the tent- but oh well I guess we have our work cut out for us because we might be dealing with leaning buds and have very little room to work around the plants- wish us luck!

Yep A GreenTree's multiflow. I have already bought a good dual air pump in anticipation of of the long flood cycle.but looking at your grow reassured me that it wont be much of a problem. As for the roots hanging down into the left over nutrients ill probably use a nylon stocking to catch and keep the roots suspended from the bottom.it should work.Btw you will love the light hangers.they make life so much easyer.best of luck!

it came in the mail today!!!

The light hangers are cool but they gave me hell the other day LOL

We thought of using a screen of some sort but a lot of issues might happen with that, the screen could clog, the roots could push through it, I have no idea if it would work they way you would want. Nylon stocking mesh is very fine and water might not easily pass through it, but I'm willing to try different things. Always having roots in nutrient solution hasn't been bad for my plants- they are growing like mad. Maybe just an airstone going in each of the buckets would help, but I'm not sure how much. My plants grew so fast I couldn't imagine it any faster, but I know it could be improved. A screen plus airstones would be so awesome!

Let me know how it turns out though, it would be really cool if the screen worked the way you want!

The Sunlifts turned out to be a nightmare to fix because I decided to fix it myself That hood is heavy as fuck and I had to take the lifts off the rail and it wasn't a good idea at all. I almost ran out of strength trying to put the rail back up because the hood was bending the rail so much. For some reason the lifts just magically worked after taking them off and messing with them...

Getting a carbon filter today and re-routing the ducting through the attic to the garage as soon as I get the time for that.

The plants are going through their stretch phase but we gave them some B-52 (B- vitamins) which are supposed to keep the plants from stretching as much. They are about up to our chest now which is roughly 10 inches taller than when we put them in the tent about a week and a half ago. They are starting to flower but aren't really concentrating on the flowers as much as the getting taller right now. Can't wait to see these babies frost up!

I've been meaning to post new pictures, but I use a seperate computer for posting the pictures for added safety. Sure this could be anyone but pictures AND text coming from the same place just might not cut in court. LOL

I just thought of using my brother's computer to do it from because he isn't growing- hopefully that will work out and I can post pictures a lot more often.

They are going absolutely nuts right now with the fresh nutrients, 1,000 watts of HPS, and the 6in fan going 24/7. The light is about 18-20" away from the tallest, a little closer on the 400 because the one hood holds the bulb lower than the CoolSun hood that has the 600.

Ph was at 6.4 and I adjusted it back down and added 4 gallons of fresh water, and watered the clones (such a pain in the ass wish I had a cutting flood table...)

5 of the original clones we took rooted- it's been really interesting seeing them bounce back from almost dying. Considering this one that appears to be alive- I should have waited a couple days and maybe more would have pulled through; but I pulled them out and took a bunch more clones to make sure we had this one Mazar's genetics.

Right now I'm trying to get some money together for a carbon filter and another digital timer which we really need... After that we are getting more HydroHuts for a nursery and veg room, but who knows how that is going to happen

When we first started out- every week, then in late veg (after 8 weeks) we let it go two weeks but topped off with half-strength nutrient.

Ideally you would want to put as much as the plants would drink in 7 days; some even recommend 4 days for maximum growth. Say the plants drink a gallon a day- you mix up 10-12 gallons of water (because the pump needs to be submerged in the res and you need at least 10 gallons in there for the pump to not run dry) and then just add a gallon of fresh water a day, up until you add as many gallons as you originally mixed as nutrient solution.

We might let the plants go on this res for a few extra days so they are definitely in their second week of flower when we hit them with the Big Bud and some Colossal Bud Blast. They have enough to go about 10 days (35 gallons of nutrient solution)

I've been advised to flood 5X a day, every 4 hours with the lights on and every 6 hours with the lights off. This is to get as much oxygen and fresh nutrient to the roots as possible. The fresher the nutrient and the more oxygen the better the uptake.

You might want to skip the grodan and just use hydroton, the more flood cycles and the more the nutrient is refreshed the better.
