ok i went to home depot and got some 18 inch floro tubes for growing plants. i threw those in to my blacklight fixtures and set them in my box. i mixed 1/3 perlite and natural bloom soil and put the sprouted seeds in to the soil.

im stoked. this is my first grow. im getting more lights today or tomoro.

btw im not leaving all of those plants in there, just waiting to see who comes out best


btw again, ive had those seeds i used in a ziploc bag for probably a year and i had no problem sprouting. i put about 10 in and 7 sprouted. *crosses fingers* i hope they are all little girlies.

ok so here is the same sprout a couple of hours later. its already getting is first set of "real" leaves. its only been since last night...

updating again because i re-arranged my little stealth spot. i put tin-foil on cardboard and but that over the lights. i also put all cups in to one container so i dont have to worry about moving them. sorry if this is too much... but im excited about it.

ps. still getting lights for this. i am planning to keep the best looking 2-3 sprouts and destroy the rest unless my friend will let me grow in his new house. he has a 400 hps that im dying to use. so fingers crossed that he lets me do it.

woke up this morning (230 pm) and noticed all the little girls were out of their shell casings and reaching towards the light. here are a couple of snap shots .

pic #1 is the first little girlie that sprouted her head before all the other ones

pic #2 is alll the containers with every seedling sprouted.

did u get them lights at home depot?if so they have nvision lights that have the color spectrum labled on the front of pkg so its idiot proof but those dont look like same pkgs i got,go to the home de pot and look for blue spectrum cfls in as high of wattage as you can get also they have these Y adapter things that screw into your light socket and turn one socket into 2 and they are real helpful when using cfls and clamplights

ya i got the lights at home depot, but i couldnt find any that had the blue specrum on them. these do emit a blue light when i turn them on, they say their daylight lights. so is this the right ones?

For vegging you want bulbs in the blue spectrum. With CFL's this will be expressed as Kelvin(K). This will often be listed as a color temperature. For veg you want 6500K.

Don't use tin foil. You can create hot spots and burn your plants. The easiest method is to just use a flat white paint. You get most of the benefits of Mylar but it's cheaper and easier.

i cant really paint anything in my room. im still at home with my mom. i think tinfoil will be okay... i know it can burn the plants but im kinda outta options due to my lack of funds.

Another option it to cut some cardboard to fit on the inside. You could paint that and then just stick them around the edges. If you do decide to stick with the tin foil, switch to the mat side.
