birdman13 - Few q's when and what are you transplanting into?

Already done with transplanting...my 2 babies live in 3 gallon pots now. Did it about a week ago, that is why 1 plants looked like shit for a week, I lost a ton of root on Big.

birdman13 - even if you want a taller plant i would top it, one cola or 2 colas?

About the LST. Doesn't look like you have your plant going sideways, maybe it is, and I just can't locate the main stem...you are using LST to get more light to lower/newer branches?? I put lights on the top and bottom of my plants...is that not doing the same thing...getting light in the hard to reach places?? I have read the LST sticky...maybe I am still not understanding something. I though it was used to fill out width wise a room..filling the space with green, when you are limited vertically. I see what you have done, and it makes sense to get light to as many leaves as possible. Is that what you are suggesting I do, move branches/leaves aside to open light space for lower/newer growth??

yeah i had to convince my friend (grow partner) the same thing man! I guess what i try and preach is "the smallest plant (grows in less time, more time to grow another) with as many colas cause thats what were after, not stupid fan leaves. i think that the best way (on most strains) is to bend the plant over so you get more then one growth shoot, i have them coming out at every inter node (and there at least an inch long)all the way down the main stem. Each one of these is a "new growth site"... i guess not to scientific.... will turn into a colas if they can receive enough light to make one.
My advice is to learn for your self just as my grow partner did, In my last little run i showed him the difference it makes now he is a believer! why grow a huge plant that takes up a ton of room? DUDE grow a little one that only takes half the time to produce the same thing. I look at augestwest's scrog and think WOW i want my TWO plants to look like that! a freaking box o buds! anyways it is all good! and just keep growing and smoking.

So you don't like big plants like mine that produce 10-12 oz per plant, think you can get 22 oz out of a 3.5x5 with your small plants? Yes, I'm a proponent of LSTing, however, when the floor space is limited and there is plenty of room for vertical growth, then you use the best method you can to fill your space up. By the way, augustwest is going hydro next grow, if my eyes aren't deceiving me.

10-12 z's per plant thats a lot o...impressive number chimera! Dunno about birdman, but a big ol MJ plant sounds like a F'in dream come true to me!

Like I said in previous post, I can understand LST to get light around, but for me going sideways won't be good. I can go a max height of around 5feet, while I can only go 2.5 feet wide...and have enough lights to give good vertical coverage to plants.

my grow (still in progress) took 9 weeks to veg and another 8-9 of flower time.
The scrog is cool but definately needs a lot of veg time to get a good yield.

ya i'm gonna take the plunge.. chimera's grow put me over the edge..
what really concinced me was trying to fix a PH/nute problem in soil.. it's such a slow process getting soil PH from 5.8 to 6.5. I had to go a lot longer than i wanted to without adding nutes cause my PH was so off.

PS islamdmon.. the girls are lookin real nice man! Glad to se the small issues got sorted out.

Thanks West...I'm still suffering from SLIGHTLY low PH. Got the digi in yesterday, it needs to be calibrated, and sit in the provided liquid like over night or some crap. So I will get that going tomorow for watering this weekend.

So I only topped Lil yesterday. I was going to do Big but decided to wait a day or two for a little more growth. I would have had to cut either more then I wanted or less, almost like a fimming, but Big just took off growing a few days ago, gonna give it 1 or 2 more days then give it the cut.

I think I did it correctly...you tell me!

just a quick question here,
is it good to top and lst? is that how you are supposed to do it? top first then bend it over and strap it down? or just one or the other?

Morning 420...I have been told using multiple techniques will get the plant to yield better. LST is more then just bending the plant over...read up on DierWolf's LST and topping.fimming stickies...all the answers are in there.

On to the updates.
So over the weekend my babies got their first taste on Foxfarm grow big...and man did they like it! To me it was like they doubled in size overnight! Also made some improvements to my room. Got much better freash air coming in now, keeping things cool enough to get more lights in there. Added my 42watt CFL 2700k, and 4 foot bar 6500k 40watt, only 82 more watts, but that gets me a total of 357 watts of power. I'm pissed at myself, I dropped my other 125watt 2700CFL man...grrrrrrrr, busted! I wasn't going to use it until flower time, but now I need to get another one!

I also took the foil out of the room this weekend, back to bare walls. I may paint them white if I can convince the GF. I took it down for both cooling and hoping to stop the tip burns.

1. Big, not looking so sick anymore, finally getting some size. I also topped this one on Friday.

2. Lil, bushing out all over. This one is going to need to be hog tied.
