Growing in an apartment and in college

Hey guys, I'll be attending a university next year and although I will live the first year in a dorm, how plausible would it be for me to rent an aprtment and get a grow going? How effective is odor control and what privact issues are there with an apartment grow? Is it too risky?

well, if ya got the cash and the time to do it you could go for it. My opinion on apartment grows is that they are a lot more risky then growing in a home that you own. You gotta check it out first, think wisely and make sure the landlords not some snoopy type of person who will just walk in any time he wishes. Also, make sure your neighbours are cool people.

As for the smell, a carbon filter works great! also known as a "scrubber" there easy to use and you just need a few things to make it. search for scrubber or carbon filter. All you have to worry about is the smell from opening the doors in the grow room, maybe put something outside the growroom for smell just to be safe.

Make sure everything is totally safe and there is no possible way of a fire happening, remember your leavin the lights on a long time. If you do get busted its a bigger crime.. cops and landlords saying how dangerous it was coulda burned down the entire building etc... so keep it safe if you decide to go on further with the idea man! hope i could help, peace dude!

Its stresful to say the least, I cant wait till I have my own place and the only people in my place will be invited. But if you do it right you can do it. Be smart and research your laws when it comes to landlords and your rights. I know in my place if cops are all ready in the building and they smell a crop they are permited to enter. Keep the sound and smell down and you should be alright.

the way to do it is
1st, make sure your housemates are cool with it... they will find out,
make sure the light cant be seen from outside (esp. hps)...
make sure u know if/when ur landlord/estate agent come round to check the house and make prvisions to get ur babies out (i.e. stick em in ur flatmates car...

the good thing here is they have to give you 24 hours notice if they want to come into the property... )

if you live on campus, i highly don't reccommend it because of RA's and stuff. dont know if you have those over where you are at but they suck.

if you live off campus: do whatever the fuck u want

The biggest issue I had while growing in my old apt was hauling all my supplies in and out. Carrying a big bag of soil in is a dead giveaway if someone sees you. Other than that it is pretty money, just control the odor and maybe try for an upstairs unit.

Some buildings do "random" unit inspections every 6 months/ year so things could get dicey there. They are required to give notice and they can't really go through your stuff but if you plan on using a bedroom rather than cabinet it might be a problem.

yeah, try to rent a run down apt, one the landlord obviously don't attend to much. better if it's in a questionable neighborhood as well. as for bringing in supplies, use a storage container of some type. if your not living at the apt., maybe even suitcase, so when people notice your not at home very much it might just look like you travel a lot.
