Dierwolf, First off the hydros woulda taken off even faster if I had started them on weak nutes but ran straight water for a week and a half. Second, the soils were looking really good before I left them for 3 days without water! The HPS just dried them out way too fast and they are still suffering tonight. They were more of an experiment to get my feet wet and are all bagseed. The back-right hydro grow is actually one of the soils I transplanted. As for the soil it is a 40% top soil and 60% perilite mix but the plants are in serious need of bigger pots (pardon the possible pun). I was going to transplant to a bubble bucket setup I am building but wanted them to recover a little bit first. Last edited by MightyBuddha; 12-27-2006 at 04:56 AM. |

Since this is my first batch and I have lousy patience how long should I wait before flowering? Moving forward I am going to wait for pre-flowers but I want to finish this batch asap. I have heard a certain amount of nodes or sets of alternating leaves are necessary. Any info would be appreciated.

Technically you can flower as soon as two weeks, it all depends on how big you want the end result to be. But if you want something no bigger than my blueberry in my grow, I would say 30 days and switch to 12/12. That's what I did, It's better for a quick finish and SOG.

So I changed out my nutrients tonight and took them up to 800ppm. I also switched around the setup in my room to focus more on my hydro unit. From the plants being so close they are growing crazy directions. Tomorrow I am going to try to LST them outwards a bit so they aren't crowded. I have been neglecting the soil guys and they are looking pretty bad. A friend is going to be taking them from me soon so tomorrow I am going to transplant them. I also added some reflective wrapping paper. Let me know how they look ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The soil plants still aren't doing so hot are they........well great job on your first hydro grow! Everytime I see someone have sucess on there first grow it makes me want to get my drip system up and going. Some day. Anyways buddah, do you have a fan blowing on those babies yet? The straws work well, but you wouldn't ever need them if you had a nice gentle breeze blowing on your plants. Just a suggestion. Other than that, everything looks great.....keep it up!

They were growing sideways in an effort to grab more light. Since I adjusted them that one growth has twisted back to lights. I am debating toping them and then setting up a second bubble bucket but hesitant to trim my babies. Also, the soil guys are doing a lot better today... i was misting them a lot but hadn't given a good watering to soak the roots.

I am probably not going to top these guys just because I don't have the light to grow them all. What I think I am going to do is start 5 of my white rhino seeds and 5 more cali skunk seeds 3-4 weeks into flower. Then by the time my new babies need more than a 4ft dual-tube floro and some CFLs I can get my HID back on then because flowering will be over. Then I am going to clone both of them and get a mother rhino and mother skunk. By then I will have a new cabinet with a 250W MH for them.

sounds ok,then u can start flower whenever they hit 8-12 inches tall if u want to finish fast...i think u should wait a little longer to start the other seeds, maybe a month into flower, that way u only have to grow the new seeds under fluros for a few weeks.. very good idea for the clones, wish i had space to put a mother...
