Skunk#1 LST Project

As my 1st grow is half way through flower, I've begun the next project. I've germinated 5 Skunk#1 seeds and now have had them in the seedling unit for one week. The seedling unit is 3'x18"x2' with 2x30w 6500k fluoro tubes, basic 12v PC fan inlet and outlet through carbon scrubber with small rotator fan. The whole grow will be 100% organic.

The plan is to top the skunk plants after the third node and then flower the batch at 4 weeks to weed out the males and the weaker females. The female plant will go on into a 12gal tub and veg in the main cabinet for another few weeks, it will be LSTed, with a 250w CFL as main light, and 4x30w flouro tubes for extra lighting. Once the nodes have alternated and growth is sufficient flowering will commence!.

Day 1:

Day 9:

2nd set of leaves are through nicely now, things are proceeding just as I'd like them to be. Had a bit of a humidity spike problem when the vent fan stopped working and one of the seedlings didn't tolerate it and wilted and died. Got another seed in germination, should pop the soil surface within a couple of days.

those clear containers are very bad for roots .. put them in paper bag or wrap a tape around containers

Thanks again m4n, good to see you around here.

Coco-Cola, you are incorrect. Think of all the hydro and bubble growers who have roots exposed to light quite often. Light does not harm roots, they continue to grow healthy. This is what Dierwolf said on the matter:

Only thing that MIGHT happen is you get some algae on the inside surface of the clear container because light+water=algae.

If your soil is packed properly and your not overwatering none of this should be a concern.
Day 11:

The babies are looking good and strong. That other seed hasn't yet popped the surface. The internodes are really short on the plants (check out the last pic) which I'm very happy about seeing as last time they stretched to fuck, and the leaves are getting nice and fat.

Your plant seem to be growing up quickly.
It is bigger and further developed then mine did at 11 days in my current grow.
I messed up a bit with germination, looks like you are 4 or 5 days quicker then me.

hey bud, just have a bit of input about the clear pots. Althought you probably wont have a problem, when growing in a container roots hit the side of the container and grow pretty thick all along the outside of the container. These roots are the most vulnerable to moisture and heat stress and they are the most exposed. Direct light on roots can slow root growth, which in turn slows plant growth. Although you probably wont see a problem, it is a quick and easy solution to what could be a potentially deadly problem.
