My friend got some very nice weed but it had seeds in it, 15 to be exact. He gave me the seeds and I found a nice box in my room that would be good for a stealth grow.

This is my first grow and I look foward to updating this very often with detailed pictures from start to finish. Four seeds have been in germination for the past 14 hours.

Here are the materials I will be using for my grow:

Cardboard box (18''W x 17''L x 25''H)
Two 65wat Grow Lights
Outlet Timers
Four 5.5'' pots
Miracle-Gro Potting Mix

I still need to consider air circulation. Maybe I can get a small little fan to put in the box? What would you guys suggest? Also would linning the inside of the box with styrofoam be a good idea?

Thanks,
Matt

sorry to say that you likely will not be growing much of anything with that bulb. Pick yourself up the biggest spiral compact flourescent you can find, not very expensive at all and does the job. try and find one that has a blue spectrum (cool white, 6500 Kelvin)...

Not sure it makes a difference. But there are 2 of the 65 wat bulbs. If that doesn't work I could try and pick up a spiral cfl. I'm kind of worried about over heating though.

Thanks for your input.

hey bud, if you need help with stealth grows, im the man on hear to talk to. Just harvested my last crop and got 4.5oz dried of some of the strongest bud i have ever smoked :). With your lights your gonna wanna go with a couple compact floro (spiral) bulbs. Get a couple 40watt Cool White CFLs (12 bucks at Walmart) and they give off 2600 lumens..not bad for a tiny power absorbtion and super cool operation.. Also, if your super paranoid about heat like i am... put a computer fan near each of the bulbs to blow air on them.. solves heat issues and is super cheap..

Yeah I'm reading about that too. I'll use it just for this first grow. If something goes wrong that will be the first thing I replace for the next grow.

I'm looking at those spiral cfl's. They say for instance that they use 16wats but give out like 60wats. Are these type good to get or should they actually use 60 wats?

Thanks

If it's not too late, I would definitely change soils. Try to get something without any nutes in it, maybe something at your local nursery.

One of the seeds germinated and is in a pot under one 65wat incadecent. The box is pretty hot in there, at least 85-90 degrees. Will this kill the sprout?

I'm going to hopefully get new spiral cfl's in a few days but for now all I have are these 65wat incadecents. More pics coming soon

Uhm, before you worry about your plants and their soil, worry about waking up on fire. Sticking incandescent lights into a cardboard box is deffinitely a recipe for disaster.

My first suggestion is to not use a box. After that...well, there's a bunch of FAQs out there to help you.

Burn baby burn, cause your set-up is either going to burn your house down or your plants up. Dump the cardboard box, dump the MG. Your current lights are heat generators go get cfl's if you must grow cool, the bigger the better. Or you could be real smart, read up on best way's to grow stealth(look for how many watts are being used, you'll see the more actual watts the better the yield).

I am getting spiral cfl's. But for now I have no choice but to use the incadecants. I hope my house doesnt burn down or my plant dies of heat. It's probably 89 degrees in there.

if you'r still going to keep those lights at least think about getting a smoke alarm above the box?
I've got a smoke alarm in my growcab and a fire extinguisher on the door ;)

UPDATE: Went out and got two spiral cfl's 26/100wat for $1 with a stop and shop card. I know two of them may not be enough for the whole ride but I might get another later on. Also purchased a digital thermo/humdity reader.

The other three seeds are almost done germing. Hopefully the one already planted survived that heat it took.
