Ok, i've only just now read your thread and i haven't really finished reading yet but thought i'd throw in a few considerations. I'll post in random order... - UVB lights for clone rooting: UVB lights will help rooting, but they should be directed to the rooting region or close to it (not at the leaves). UVB is also "toxic" to plants since it nicks the DNA. Fragmented DNA means cell death. Use them but don't keep them on all the time. If possible keep them on during the dark period since that's the time the plant's main hormone (auxin) descends to the roots. Auxin in the roots is not a good thing since auxin inhibits rooting. UVB light degrades auxin... you can see where i'm getting at ![]() - Lumen burn: Happens when you give the plant too many lumens. Yes, it does happen and that might have been what caused your leaves to show necrotic regions. LEDs may have caused it since a 10W LED is equal in PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) to a 400W HPS bulb. - LST: i'd say you should push it a little further... twice (or maybe even on three occasions, can't really remember) you had heat burns on your plants. With a little more patience you can LST your plant so that it forms a coil around the pot, allowing the secondary shoots to grow upwards (on a 90º angle to the main stem). This will surely decrease your chances of getting heat burn, even when you go on vacations. - DMSO: is a HIGHLY TOXIC solubilizer. Use it to grow old seeds as it likely increases the water intake, but rinse it off the plantlet when transplanting. Also be carefull not to touch it too much... Btw, when you do transplant follow the advice someone posted earlier... transfer the whole thing rather than trying to transfer just the plantlet. Personally i use sterilized cotton. - Germination: theoretically seeds have ALL the nutes they need to germinate. In fact, in a lab, we use a decreased nute medium to germinate... Don't add nutes as it'll further stress your plant. Granted, 30 year old seeds may have lost their nutes so find on the internet something called "Knopp's solution" and cut the nutes in half. Use that to germinate. If you can get a hold of some agar and sterilization equipment, use it. - Bust: sorry to hear about that man but it stresses one of the basic rules of growing your plant... tell only those that absolutely need to know (not that it would likely help you in your case...). Earlier in the forum you mentioned giving part of your crop to "charity". The way i read it you gave it to someone who has a potentially terminal medical illness, am i right? If so, talk to that person and your lawyer. Medical patients can sometimes be granted the right to grow a limited amount of plants so maybe you can get off by saying that was your intent... to grow for him... I'm pretty sure i have more comments but can't really remember them right now... A question for you: what do you think of the LED lights? Can they hold the flowering by themselves? Without all the other lights you have? Cheers PS - I'm currently a molecular biologist but i graduated as a plant biotechnologist if you're wondering where i got my info |

UVB LEDS are $$$$. Hmmm, come to think of it all "good" LEDs are $$$. Here is a fantastic site for LED info http://www.greenpinelane.com . From what I've read, UVB is the way to go. What I don't know is how much to use and when. Some of the bulbs out are 10X the sun's UVB! |

I'm not saying UVB isn't the way to go, just be carefull... Check out GreenPeace's say on UVB at http://archive.greenpeace.org/ozone/radiant/15rad.html Bear in mind they aim at an environmental angle to the issue... PS - thanks for the site on LEDs Starting some research on the matter |

What's up fellas. I'm afraid that after patiently waiting for these Panama Reds to germinate, all that has grown is mold. I think it's safe to say these seeds are deader than dead. That's ok I guess since I have no plans yet for a new grow setup, although if the medical bill passes in this state, stealth won't be an issue for me. I hope Rell goes for it, and I'm pretty sure she will. I'm out of court now, got off fairly lightly with my AR, but I can't get busted again so that means no more taking chances. And yes, my brother is sadly still alive. That's about all the news there is now. Thanks people for still liking my threads. Can't wait to start growing again.

Kamel, do you have any ideas on how to get maximum number of sockets for the least amount of money. I just went ahead and bought two clip on lamps for the very early days of vegetation. I know I will need more lights up coming up but don't want have to spend $8 per lamp just for one bulb.

My internet has been acting screwy, I meant to post this days ago. I read about that in the paper Islandmon, and it's pretty scummy. ICE tried to play it off as if they weren't racial profiling in some of the statements made, but it's so obvious that it's just one more corrupt organization this country has to suffer. I pray that if I do get the right to grow for my father, we won't be bothered. In fact I'd much enjoy going down to the police dept in town and waving my card in those prick's faces. Walk up to the jackass who told me I NEED aluminum foil so I don't start a fire, "Hey Sp***, dull side or shiny side?" Retards. Burna if you get a clamp lamp with a big enough reflector, or just take it off and use the socket, you can get three Y splitters and turn one socket into 4. Y splitters are like 1 dollar a piece. Oh and now I guess Jodi Rell vetoed the bill...twat.
