It's better to get rid of the mirrors.
They are crappy light reflectors : absorb quite some light and reflect all the light in the same direction.

Its better to paint wood or cardboard if you must flat white.
Nice difuse reflector and absorbs nearly nothing.

I actually think you should get the plants closer to the light.
Get them at a 2 inch distance. Make that 3 inch if you have a heat issue and 1 inch if you have excellent ventilation.

I went out and bought another flouro balast so now I have 160 W of pure flouro carnage (2 are 6500k color temp and 2 are 2500k). The brown spots don't seem to be appearing on the newest growth so I don't know what the deal was there but I'm going to keep a close eye on it. I added some lime to my soil in case the issue was pH related (I don't know the pH just hat lime helps).

On a side note: How much should I water the bigun each time I water?

Sorry my pics seem to be realy deceptive in terms of light distance the flouros that I have are about .5' away from the light. Tomorrow I'll hoist em up about a half inch or just lower my plants a half inch (they're on books so the can be closer to the light. Temps are still around the 86-90F mark but I only have one CFL (42W) and that's over the baby baby so heat isn't too much of an issue.

Jack Herer NL cross is actually a hybrid so yours could have some sativa in it. When they get bigger I will be better able to tell. I agree with Urgr8est, lose those mirrors. I would also get some different soil if they were my plants. Try to stay away from MG Shultz and Scotts. You still have heat issues. 93 is too hot. Thankfully they are Indica or mostly Indica so they are more tolerant to heat. When you water you can give as much as it takes for a good bit of water to drain out the bottom. Getting a good flow out the bottom ensures minimal salt buildup in the soil. Check your ph with some kind of tester if you are worried about ph. Lime will raise the ph to more alkaline so be careful.

I can't find any soils that don't have added nutes around here (I've checked all the Kmarts/Walmarts/Home Depot's in biking range. I did see some (I believe it was shultz) african violet pH adjusted soil and it didn't mention any added nutes and the pH is supposed to be slightly acidic which is what I want right? My temps haven't been above 90F for some time even during today's 103F weather. I have the plant in a 5 gallon bucket and I feel that I would need to dump almost a gallon of water for it to pour out the bottom, and this stupid soil is heavy as hell for some reason so it's hard to tell when I should rewater it. The possiblility of having some sativa is good news though . Thanks for the advice.

hehe, that is a good one

As for watering, I use I jumbo sized big gulp cup from a fast food place eventually using two cup fulls as time gies by. Start with one every three days or so for starters. You just have to watch them and check often for drooping and then you know how much and how often

No, grass is not an acid loving plant. I don't know about that soil. Don't you have some kind of a nursery around your place. Some place that sells nothing but plants trees and garden items? They will have good potting soil there. If it takes a gallon to flow out the bottom then give it a gallon. Heavy soil means not great drainage so after watering it don't water again until dry at least an inch deep maybe more.

I thought I read that pot likes a pH of 6-6.5 and I think it was you who said it, in another grow journal, isn't that slightly acidic? I could and probably am wrong on all counts, just making sure.

Both babies are growing pretty quickly now which is very pleasing to me. The larger of which is about 6 - 6.5" tall and is coming along nicely. The brown spots have stopped forming on any new growth so my is (don't ask me how). I think I will start LSTing once it reaches 8-9 inches and shortly thereafter I will start flowering.

The small one has a really bright green and had been wilting/ resting on the cup and I was sad and thought it due to over watering. but as the days went by it didn't get better so it must have been under watering so I watered it today and it seems to be perking up. I will probably transfer her in a week or so.

Here are some pix.

I will post more on Wednesday and then won't until next Monday or Tuesday for I'm going camping. My roommate will be in charge of watering in my absence.

No. 7.0 is alkaline so, the correct PH of 6.3-6.8 that MJ in soil likes is more towards the alkaline side than acidic.

Nobody corrected you last time Vtec but I got ya this time. 7.0 is dead neutral. Anything above numericaly is alkaline, anything below is acidic. So our trees like slightly acidic soil. You'll get it . Would be nice to know what that company considers slightly acidic. Doin good by the way, y&s.

Are alkaline and basic synomous? Thanks for the exact #s SmknVTec I thought they were in that vacinity. And yeah KamelRedLight, that's the first question I asked the guy at the Home (we know jack shiat about anything) Depot. They knew jack shiat and just pointed to the front of the bag and said, "Ummm, it's pH adjusted uhhhhh, *splatter* (he shit himself)." I'm going to check on the web what the pH is of said soil and will report back here with the answer, or tales of my failure.

/The HD person didn't shit himself but I wouldn't have been suprised if he had.
