Day 12 from seed. The last plant now also supports its own weight again.
Looks like I've made it past the hard part with 9 out of 12 seeds.

As promised bigger pots about 1 foot tall, damn they make my plants look soo tiny!

Nah, the exhaust fan alone will suffice.
When I look at my plants with the fan on I see them move back and forth about 1 cm.

Not too short to transplant them in one feet pot?

The less he transplants the less stress the plant will go thru, plus he can start lst and not have to worry about transplanting while in LST.

Good point Dier! Is the one feet pot is final size of your grow?

Actually my future pot size depends on my luck.

I planted 9 seeds and chances are good I have a few males in there.
The pot size I will choose depends on how many females are left after pre-flowering.

If I end up with 3 females I'll buy some badass pots as big as fit in my box. (3x50cm square should fit if I can find them)

If I end up with 6 females I'll end up with something like 10L bucket for pot.

Transplanting small plants into pots too large is impossible.
Normally the plants have a planet-wide size pot.
Transplanting is basically putting the soil clump from the small pot into the big pot.
This can be done with ZERO damage.

The thing that I'm wondering about is sequencing of events.
What should I do first? Events on my mind :

a. LST
b.pre-flowering
c.cutting tops

Ofcourse when I pre-flower first the plant will be at least 1' high, which makes LST more difficult (=not the paperclip method). Ofcourse I can cut the tops after pre flowering and LST from there.

I could also not worry about LST-ing close to the ground at all. Just cut tops multiple times in a row after pre-flowering. This produced a lot of bud sites in my previous grow I like it a lot and you can fine-tune the height of the main tops with some LST.

Or, I could forget about cutting off tops, LST from the beginning pre-flower ASAP because LST plants are hard to transplant I'd guess.

Any ideas?

Update : day 16 : life is good :

Godviews :

Sideviews :

Next time I'll make the sideview pics outside the box, the colors look a bit funny here and there.

You can clearly see that the stems are thickening, and ofcourse more and bigger leaves. Like with my first grow, I do get the impression that the smaller the plants are the slower they grow. So they are growing quicker and quicker now.

Is this the same with HPS/MH?
Or is it that fluro grows require a certain surface area of the leaves before they really get going?

I don't know man, whenever I sprout a few seeds, they always grow faster for the first two weeks and then slow down a touch. As long as they have root room, your plants should have at least a bit of growth per day if not ALOT of new growth per day, depending on the strain's vigor.

Too bad I didn't log my first grow's vegging period.
I'm not really impressed with the speed of growth during the first two weeks of this grow, I think that my first grow went quite a bit faster in the beginning.
There are two things different that I can think off that may slow down my plants grow this time :

1. The seeds I use for this current grow is 6 months older then the seed I used for my first grow, this may explain less vigorous growth in the beginning.

2. Current vegging stage done in temperature ranges between 25C to 35C. Thats 77F to 95F. My first grow vegged in the winter : temp ranges 10C to 20C so as low as 50F to 68F. So it may be that vegging is done better at lower temps (for fluros that is).

GROWING is better at lower temps. It's fucking 106 degrees here outfuckingside! I don't even want to know what the temps are in my grow room . . . I CANNOT afford AC.

hi ,urgr8estfear
I have always used fluoros for vegging and clones (2x40w t12 cool whites/1x30wt8 warm white) although I now have a 400w halide bulb also, and the heat this time of year is not doing my clone success ratio ANY good, whereas in autumn through to early spring things are fine. I thought at first conditions were TOO cold by what I'd been reading etc.
Not so in my experience. Roll on the autumn!
good luck with the grow from a former fluoro only grower.
my best was just over half an oz of NL , though , so you are on the right track from the first grow.

Day 19.

Thanks for dropping by Chaosmonger and Infiniteawesome.

Right now I'm running the box at 92F (33C) and over 70% humidity.
Not by choice really! (freaking heatwaves)

Some of the plants look have funny shapes, wrinkled up leaves and so.
I'm betting this is the result of growing in a sauna.
It sit next to the box up my attic for 5 minutes and sweat runs down my arms back and all. ARGH! Heat- are

Looks good urgr8estfear,
Sorry I am a bit late to the party. What is your current total exaust in CFM? Just wondering because at 92 degrees your temps are still a bit high. I wonder if a 256 cfm fan would work or help?
