What soil is that??? or is the yellowing because of light heat???? looks like alot of stress so early in life, be prepared for hermie or male.

the yellowing was from the heat of the HPS that they were on. I stopped it early. I dont think they sustained enough stress to change there sex. It was only the lower leaves that turned a little yellow, and in a days time they grew 2 sets of leaves when i changed to the CFL... if they were stressed they wouldnt do that.

*UPDATE:

Since posting this thread this morning, the top leaves have doubled in size, and the yellowing is retracting -- they will be fine

ok i took this last night,

EDIT:

i want to add some fertilizer to these guys but i want opinions first.

The fertilizer i have is this,

Miracle-Gro
All Purpose Liquid Houseplant Food 8-7-6 with 0.10% Chelated Iron (for lush houseplants)

Total Nitrogen: 8%
Total Phosphate: 7%
Total Soluble Potash: 6%
Total Iron 0.10%
Total HEEDTA (Chelating agent): 0.54%

If i can use this stuff, when should i start adding it to my plants and how much each time?

chicken already said it sounds good and to water it down 1/4th of the prescribed strength, does this sound good?

Yes you should give your ferts a try if you haven't allready. And you have the right idea about watering the ferts down at first. I grow a special strain of papaya and I love it. I think your gona love the strain its quick growing and makes killer bud. I'm gona watch your grow cause I wana see what other people yeild off it. Good luck

Looks like they're rebounding quite nicely from whatever was stressing them at first. Sounds like a killer strain btw, good luck.

Update time,

I have figured out i am growing 2 indicas and 1 sativa (papaya is the sativa), and the droopy leaves are gone. I use that fert i have a couple times but i think i should stop as i am pretty sure its not working for them the way it should... still getting slight yellowing. I feed them half of what the bottle says to feed, the bottle says 10-20 drops per liter. i put 5 drops per half liter and feed them all 1/3 of that.

Alright i have a few questions this time.

Right now i am using 4, 45 watt CFL lights for all 3 plants, its about 2900 lumens per bulb about 1-2 inches away from the plants. Now i know HPS is way better but ive heard plants grow more bushy under flouros because of the spectrum they emmit, this is what i want, really bushy ass plants, not long slender ones. My question is if i use the 400 watt HPS are they going to become long and slender, and not bushy?

my last question is, on the last picture attached you will notice these brown dots on one of the mid-to-upper fan leaves, what is this from?
^^^ I just figured out that its light burn, they do tend to grow alot over night and sometimes get way too close to the bulb. so that explains it... time to lift the lights a bit lol

sorry to say, but the stretch is due to poor lighting imo, NOT 'COS IT'S A SATIVA the cheap beans will be extremely varied, but it's an indica

from the nirvana website: Papaya is a heavy, greasy indica staying low and dense,
hope that helps.

A HPS light will NOT make your plant long and skinny... It will get your plant a shit load bushier than those little CFL's you got on it now i tell ya!

seriously?

and chaosmonger,
i wasnt asking about the stretching because its happening to me, its not -- i was wondering IF i started using my HPS if then they would stretch because ive heard HPS does that. they are bushy now, i didnt want to change that.

edit: forgot to mention, i got my seeds from a friend who ordered them from a seed bank.

What? Vegging for 3 months with the hope of using a 400 HPS to flower? I grow using 400w and in a perfect world growing six plants, during veg you want to agressively tie them down during the first 5/6 weeks of veg. If your seeds/strain are really IBL, you should see presex flowers before flipping the light cycle. If not, figure on sex showing up around 12 days afterwards. With a 400w HPS you really want to keep them LST'd down to around 16" as they will double in height during the first few weeks of flower which will force you to raise your HPS 400w about 4-5 inches if you have a good fan blowin. *nod*

Vegging for 3 months is way too long for a 400w HPS....great shots of your plants so far, looks like you have everything dialed in so far but to not stress them out, I would recommend putting them in atleast 3-4 gallon buckets now cause that is what they will need to really pack on the bud at the end.

Good luck as your Plants really do look great; they look like tiny trees so your LST is working, just really get them into their bigger final pots now to grow into for flowering and you will not be disappointed. Jah!

great post Lucian, helped me out. I would of put them in bigger pots already but im waiting for payday

i have been modding my grow box for better ventilation, i also now have 2 more fans, 1 big box fan to put fresh air in, 1 bionaire hanging from the wall aimed directly on the HPS bulb to blow the hot air up into the reflector which has a hole in the top with the 50 CFM exaust fan attached to not give the hot air a chance to fill the box. and its vented out of the closet into the room

tomorrow ill be getting the 4 gallon pots + 10-10-10 fertilizer by Scott brand. ill post pictures then.
