Materials:

1 2 liter soda bottle with cap
1 1/4 tsp measuring spoon
1 Pyrex liquid measuring cup
1 Dry measuring cup (1 cup size)
1 Funnel
Hot Tap Water
Yeast
Sugar

Procedure:

-Take off the cap of the 2 liter soda bottle and poke the smallest hole you can in the cap.

-Clean/sterilize the bottle with hot tap water and rinse out until clean on the inside. Do the same for the cap

-Fill Pyrex cup with 1 liquid cup of extremely hot tap water

-Measure out one dry cup of sugar and pour into pyrex cup

-Stir thoroughly until sugar is dissolved in water

-Pour mixture through funnel into 2 liter bottle

-Repeat mixture once more and pour into 2 liter bottle

-Measure out 1/4 tsp. of yeast and pour into 2 liter bottle

-Quickly cover bottle with cap

-Shake vigorously

-Remove cap and pour a small amount of sugar onto surface of mixture.

-Screw cap back onto bottle

That's it. Just put it behind your ventilation fan that is pointing towards your plants and let the co2 enriched mixture go. It should last 4-7 days I believe.

This works kind of like o2 for humans, the more the better. So if you can fit more into your space, then go for it, but after a certain point it will become pointless to put more in.

Remember to refrigerate your yeast after opening it as it dies readily at room temperature if it doesn't have something to feed on.

If all goes well the plants will survive temps as high as 98 to 120 I've heard and it's much better for the plants to be at those temps when the air is co2 enriched anyways. Though I wouldn't try to exceed 100 as I'm pretty sure you can heat stress the plants still even with co2 enriched air.

This is simply a good way at getting around those scary high temperatures during the summer without having to invest in an expensive cooling system which is basically how I'm using it, but y'know increased plant vigor is always a plus.

Monsters are our dream. Yes *nod* but a 400w HPS for flowering really only supports 6-7 plants with 6 weeks veg which is plenty. Figure on 100 watts per sq foot for your 4 best plants which can give you up to 3-4 ounces per plants tied down like a natzi during weeks 2-5 of veg so they are only 16" tops when you flip to flowering. The other plants you grow in whatever size pots are available and since they exist on the perimeter, figure on 1 ounce per plant worst case.

As for Co2, here is the science of it. Plants still remember the Jurassic age when Co2 was 500% more than it is now. This goes for all plants.trees by the way...so for every 100% you increase CO2, you can expect 100% improvement in bud growth using up to 500%. Anything more is a waste.

There are two problems using the yeast method for Co2. the first is stink. Making enough Co2 for growth from yeast stinks like making beer in your bathtub but on a small svcale, every little but will help. Secondly, if you have a hose with holes in it that is connected to your jug of yeast/Co2 to distibute your Co2, make sure the hose is 6" above the tops of your plants as Co2 is heavier than Oxygen, so it will fall. A Co2 hose ring around the base of your plants is useless. Understand?

Site politics being as it is atm, regardless..there is a good refridgerator grow box setup on ganjaland.com that also explains how adding Co2 works and why it works.

Just keep your water at pH 6.5....and for haha's search on Ebay for Guano for ideas on ferts as if you are dabbling in Worm castings... it is a shame you have to result to Tufts lawn builder ferts. *Taps Dread for the followup on exiting the ring*

lol

ok well im only growing 3 plants on the 400 watt hps & i got the light 9 1/2 inches away from the tops of the plants without it getting too hot and the scotts brand fert was just a reply from someone who said he used it with great success so i thought id give it a try, if you know of a better fert im all ears.

ok so its been about 2 hours since i installed the new HPS and ventilation system, i put a temp gauge in there with it. i just checked it and it says the Humidity is about 60% and the temp is about 86*F, the temp i know is perfect, is the humidity good?

Two things, vegging for 3 mo is a waste...you should check out the max penetration 400hps will give you will find it is 3 to 5ft max. So if you grow a 7ft plant the bottom half is of no value, get the Idea. The humidity is ok, however, your bets grow temp is 75.

Yes...I agree with Chimera on vegging for 3 months with a 4oow HPS, LSTing your plants so they are less than 16" before flowering is ideal simply because any more an they will be so tall that your light will be too high for light to hit the bottoms of the plant and such will be a waste of both your times hehe

Wonder if that is the breeder Chimera hehe anyways, all I am saying with the Co2 is just make sure the hose is above the plant tops so the Co2 will fall down on them.

How cost a real Co2 bottle? How many time it last? And this Co2 can be dangerous for me? I'm always near the cabinet where my plants will grow.

not sure but I remember a "House" episode and it seems to me that to much CO2 can be dangerous...

you need a lot of c02 for it to be dangerous, since its heavier it stays at the ground floor. You need enough to basically fill the entire room, with ventialtion, that wont happen, or shouldnt.

will the fert i bought be good enough? its good enough for tomatoes so i assume its good enough for marijuana.

oh and i also got 6 gallon pots for all 3 plants, and the HPS is 10" away from them. the funnel on the top of the box is going to be filled with activated carbon, air comes into the box from the bottom via holes in the side of the box and a box fan. the air inside it vented out of the box via a 200 CFM fan. the exaust fan ontop of the HPS light simply cents the hot air upon creation away from the plants and stright up to where it gets vented out. the bionaire makes sure no hot air escapes the 50 CFM exaust fan, pushes it back up.

Great looking box, you have there, for a couple of plants. And yes the ferts should be fine for veg, but your going to need a diffrent one for flowering. All so remember to dilute your ferts at first untill you determine what your plants like.

All so you might not want to veg the papaya for 3 months. It has the tendency to get big.... fast. I've let it grow to much before and it just becomes a hasel to contain later on. Good luck with the grow Looks good.
