Re: Fishing

my buddy caught a bunch of coho at the mouth of the columbia river last week. I may give the clackamas river a shot pretty soon.

Re: Fishing

Shameless thread revival.

Took a little break from moving today and drove down south with my dog for a little fishing at this local pond in Fountain, CO. I don't usually have any luck there (and didn't really expect to, honestly, just felt like kicking back for a few hours) but I ended up pleasantly surprised at the end of the day! There were several enormous Trout swimming around in the shallows that I was playing for about half an hour, but they simply were not in the mood. If I were feeling really unsportsmanlike, I could have literally scooped them out of the water with a net.

Unsatisfying camera phone picture, but it's something.

Re: Fishing

^dries, nymphs, or steamers?

I used to waste a bunch of effort when I used to hike into lakes here in oregon. I'd pack in the float tube.....blow it up....put on my waders.......paddle around trollling a streamer......catch some fish.....deflate tube.....pack out wet tube. that's necessary for some lakes around here, but now I just tie on a dry fly and cast it out and chill while I wait for fish to rise. waaayyyy less hassle.

Ah, let me think a moment...

The two larger ones were on a 14 Elk Hair Caddis Dry.

The smallest was on a 16 Red San Juan Worm, which is a Nymph-Ish Fly. (I think 16? Could have been 18. I didn't mark it. Small, though.)

I hear you, though. I don't even have a functional pair of Waders right now! Whenever I use my fly rod, which is not as often as most Anglers in Colorado, I'm either shore casting (such as today) or getting my jeans soaked in a freezing river.

I think I speak on behalf of every fisherman on this forum when I say:

Do it.
