Hotdogs get a lot of hate but I like them. Unfortunately everybody either boils them or microwaves them and both methods result in such a poor tasting food.. however grilling them is obviously awesome and frying them is my favorite method.

I've got a few baking in the oven now to see what it is like.. and I'm interested in the steaming method a little bit.

What's your favorite way to cook them?

Over a campfire, or on a grill.

Those are the ONLY ways to cook a hot dog. ;)

Eating the baked hotdogs now. Better than I expected. Since it's so much easier to clean up than frying I'll be doing it again

That's how I'm gonna cook bacon from now on. Imma bake it in the oven instead of frying it in a pan

I've never tried baked hot dogs... I use the George Foreman for that. :smoking:
Good to hear they turned out well though.

Baked bacon is pretty awesome. Great for when you have too much bacon to fit in a skillet, plus the cleanup is super easy.

I don't like my Bacon undercooked, but I like it a little chewy. Can I get this with baking? I've never tried it, I've just fried. I always figured baking would make it too crispy for my likes

I love Bacon but only being able to fit a few pieces in a skillet at a time and the clean up make it so inconvenient that I almost never make it

I actually think it would be easier to cook it the way you like it baking it.

When I fry it I tend to make it a little too crunchy for my taste but baking it looks amazing. I've never done it just watched a lot of epic meal time videos and it works haha

You can totally get that with baking. That's why I love it. :D

I like it a little chewy and a little crispy. Baking accomplishes that perfectly for me.

I think I usually cook it at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. It'll probably turn out better if you cook it on a rack over a cookie sheet, but I don't have a rack so I kinda make a makeshift one out of tin foil to elevate the bacon a bit.

Turns out awesome every time. :smoking:

I prefer my hot dogs fired. If not fried, than grilled, If not grilled, baked. If not baked, microwaved. If not microwaved, no hotdogs for me.

Thank you.

I like to do them in the oven as well - 10 minutes or so at 425 produces something almost like grilled.

Also, Earl Campbell Hot Links. Mmmm.

I always liked the idea of cutting holes in the hotdogs, boiling them, then frying them over a skillet.
I'm super weird about my food not being totally cooked before eating :smoke:

try to do a "street meet" slice job before cooking, you know, where they particle slice the hot dog open, cooks faser and tastes better

I slice em in half and fry em on a skillet...more efficient and you get a "grill" flavor...

I like to grill some thin sliced onions and bell peppers too in some olive oil. And in the open space on my skillet ill grill my buns too

Thanks, sounds good. I'm trying it now. I reaaaally hope baking it is significantly healthier than frying it enough that it's okay that I put in as much as I did haha. I'm hungry as fuck and Bacon is pretty much the only thing I have that sounds good, so I am about to eat a looot

God fucking damn! I just checked the bacon and there's fat sizzling all over the inside of the oven and it's smoking up the kitchen so bad.

With how much of a mess is going on inside the oven, and how much smoke is coming out... I can't help but think I did something wrong. I just tossed the slices down on some tin foil and put it on 400. It's been 17 minutes and they still look like they need more time before being even safe to eat. Hm.. what could I have done wrong?

Shits so smokey I'm scared I'm about to burn the dam house down

Edit-
got it out and ate it. 11 slices... not too unhealthy right? And I uh.... kinda ran out of napkins to wipe all the fat off so I ended up saying fuck it and leaving a good portion. Hopefully I don't die

It had crisp to it and it had softness to it.. but not in the same ways as frying it. Messier than I thought but not as messy as frying it, and definitely faster for how much I cooked.

The taste was different. It wasn't as good, buuut maybe it was due to the fat I left on that I usually get off =\… I'm still pretty sure a lot of the reason was the cooking method. It also thinned the slices out more than frying seems to do.

I usually don't do bacon only meals, so next time I'm probably just gonna fry it unless I make it for a handful of people instead of just me
