For those of you who have their GED,

What are the basic steps of the process?
About how much did the tests cost you?
Were the tests difficult?

Any insight is appreciate:smoke:

Well, go down to your local GED center and they will get you enrolled and you will take placement tests. Based on your placement tests, you will be assigned to a certain level of study and you'll go to the GED center like 3 days a week taking classes. When you finish all your classes, you'll take practice GED tests until your test date comes around.

If you do very well on your placement tests, you won't need to take any classes. Basically meaning that the GED program has nothing to teach you, and you can just take the GED test right away.

I ended up doing very well on my placement tests, so I don't need to take classes. I've been taking practice GED tests (My GED test is in Jan) and I've been doing VERY well. The practice tests are very easy, I've been scoring perfectly on most all of them. I'm very confident that I'll pass the GED test.

If you're 21+, the test costs $15-20 I think. I KNOW it's not more than that though.

If you have other questions just lemme know.

Study and take the test?

I cant remember. Maybe $40?

So easy. Like if you can read and write, you can pass.

Nah, it's completely free. Classes are free and the test is free if you're under 21.

For real? Thats great.

Quick question, since you've been taking the practice tests, do you think the test covers chemistry? Is it at least on the practices? I've always been horrible at it.

Hahahah nah man. It's reading, writing, math, science and social studies. But when I say science and social studies, don't think it's like taking an ACTUAL science/SS test because it's not. It's more like reading science/SS related material and answering questions on what you read. You don't actually need to know any science or history or anything. The math is geomotry/algebra, very basic.

where i live you have to go take a practice test. If you do good on that you can go take the test for $60, if you fail the practice test you have to take classes before you can take the actual test

No problem man! I take my tests Jan 9th/10th, can't wait.

Btw, you can take all your tests at once, or you can take one test one month, the next another, the next another, etc..

BUT, if you take the entire test at one time, and fail, you need to wait 3 months to take it again.

Easiest thing i've ever done, here if you're over 18 you can take the GED test at any date without a placement test but you have to pay for it for every try. I took it when I was 17, they put me in a class the day of the placement test and aced it, took the test that weekend and started college the following semester. I was the only one in the class to get to take the test, the other kids where there for over 6 months, they weren't too happy.

From what I remember the biggest part of the math was basic algebra and geo. I remember a lot of the questions being about the relation of angles. if something is 35 deg and this crosses that you need to know what line is what from the info given. Also basic shit like volume of a cylinder or area of a triangle. They gave us all the formulas.

Oh dude I over studied for that and quite honestly it was pathetically easy they give you all the answers. A smart eighth grader could easily get a near perfect score. My essay also sucked ass but I got a perfect score lmao.

This, it's a good idea to go to college or trade school after. No ones going to care you have a GED when you're working towards a degree or have a certification.

They changed it up a couple years ago here but when I took my "GED" test I actually got a diploma instead of the general education degree. No idea how or why.

I crushed the test also. like you said all the formulas are in the back of the book. I got it in jail, me and one other guy passed the test with flying colors but the other 6 people that took it with us failed.

If you're only 18, you can still get a high school diploma, right? I know there are some programs that let you get your actual diploma without having to attend a regular school. I highly, highly suggest trying to find one of those. A diploma looks sooo much better than a GED. Seriously, get it while you still can.
