I was just wondering, how many GrassCitizens are vegetarian or vegan? I ask because I'm a vegetarian and most of the heavy stoners I know are very committed vegans or vegetarians. But whenever people on GC talk about their munchies they always talk about meat

haha, no need to cry, I'm also a vegetarian. Fruits and vegetables are awesome! Not only do they provide nutrients that the body needs, but those nutrients make people feel good.:D And the more nutrients you have in you, the better you feel. And the problem with meat is that it is full of steroids, growth hormones, and feces.

I'm going back to being a vegetarian. I really don't eat a lot of meat, only ground beef and chicken so it wouldn't be hard to give those up.

:yay:

I hate how most vegetarians, and especially vegans, act like anyone who isn't a vegetarian/vegan eat nothing BUT meat.
I've got a friend who's been vegan for about 5 years and she acts like I NEED to have meat EVERY meal and that i'd have no interest in food otherwise.
I love alllll kinds of vegan cuisine. I just also happen to love ripping into a chicken or a nice salmon steak. Do I have to eat meat every meal, or even every day? Hells nah!

If I have guests over I always make a meat/chicken meal and a little tiny veggie meal for me. They often get disappointed and claim they wanted to try the vegetarian food I was eating, so I completely know what you're on about.

The logic behind making sure the meat eaters are kept happy is, I don't want to seem like I'm enforcing my views on them. So many vegetarians/vegans are labelled as radicals who push their views and/or tofu on others (thank you PETA...) that sane vegetarians like me will go out of their way to make sure meat eaters don't think badly of them.

I try very hard to be a vegetarian, and I succeed for the most part, but once or twice a month I just lose all self control and eat chicken breast or hamburger.

QFT!

I eat a high fiber diet full of fruits, nuts and veggies...and lean meats.
Not with every meal (hell some days no meat at all :P ) but I will NEVER stop consuming meat.

:hello:!!!!! NEVER EVER !!!!! :hello:

The only time meat is bad, is when you eat too much of the bad kind. A balanced diet is essential, and most people in the U.S. eat WAY too many bad meats. Ground beef is probably the worst kind of meat one could eat ... IMO that is ;)

What makes you vegans think plant life is any less valuable then animal life?

I hate how people try to convince vegetarians why they need to eat meat. My friend always tries to tell me shit about what I'm missing. It's annoying when people push their opinions on others and can't accept that not everyone is going to agree with them. Not you, but my friend among others who make me mad grrr

I hate that also.
Meat, especially beef, is far from necessary.

There are studies heavily linking beef to cancer.
Apparently Japan used to eat very little beef but are one of the highest consumers of cigarettes, and still had one of the smallest cancer rates for such developed nations.
Their cancer rates skyrocketed as their beef consumption increased.

It actually costs far less to create veggies than meat ;P. Im not a vegetarian. Im really skinny and have a hard time eating enough even with protein/fat loaded meat every day. I dont think eating meat is all too bad in all reality. The cows in nature have to die in a much more painful/slow way more often than not. The cows die instantly feel no pain. They arent smart enough to think about it coming. And most the cows ive met seem like they have had pretty happy lives.

But, one time I drove through this place in California(i think it was on my first family vacation to cali where i now live) it felt like hell. It stunk so bad I wanted to barf. All the cows looked pissed off and miserable. That kinda shit pisses me off.... Because its this mass produce shit meat thats loaded with a bunch of nasty hormones and sold to people. Its just wrong. And chicken coops.... I dont really ever eat chicken.

These threads NEVER turn out well, because Non Vegetarians feel the need to make vegetarian's feel bad for their choices for some reason.

Oh and then there's this - we've had this topic a few times already
