Generalization of women

I noticed this in terpischore's thread about high school students generalizing women as feminist or weak. I notice it alot in the world. I would just like the opportunity to share my humble oppinion on it. I think its very wrong to generalize women in any sort of stereotype of being either a feminist or weak. I see this alot in my area (I see it alot at work, and I also see how disheartning it can be towards the females I know to be classified like that). I think women are more like a storm (no offence to any women reading this post) No 2 storms are the same, they can be calm or powerful. The same goes for a woman the same woman can be weak at times but when she has to be she can be as powerful and the gods themselves. Its my oppinion that we as a whole should stop trying to classify women, or anyone for that matter. I have nothing but respect for women, at times I have contempt as all men do. But the lessons my mother taught me about the damage that such stereotypes like this create was not lost on me. Unfortunatly I dont have my mother around now, but because of her all women hold a special place in my mind and heart.

In recent years my opinion of women has come around 180. in high school it was all about "sluts, and does so and so put out" ive realized how dumb i was. i dealt with female soldiers all of the time in afghan not too long ago. while my unit was an all male infantry unit, many of the medical personnel from our supporting CSH (combat support hospital) were female and worked wonders 24 hours a day on their patients. believe it or not, its a proven fact that women are better marksmen than men, b/c they have more patience than a man, and can also take constructive criticism to improve their techniques, unlike most dudes who have an ego to uphold.

Actually, female rifle and pistol scores are 30% lower than male (USMC)..

I know when I was on parris island, one female platoon would average 17 unq's (unqualified shooters that fail to meet the minimum score on qualification day) out of a platoon of 40-55, while a male platoon would average 7 unqs out of a platoon of 65-75. Ever seen a woman win the championship rifle matches at camp Perry? Didn't think so...

So there goes your theory on that

You can't generalize? I'm sorry, but that isn't correct. Oh, I know, I stand upon the precepts of idolatry by saying such a thing... But you can generalize. Slapping someone or something into a category doesn't constitute discrimination, unless your data is flawed and used for a harmful means. All people are created equal, which is a truth. But that doesn't mean that everyone and everything is able to do/be everyone and everything.

Different gifts were given to different people, to fill a role. There is no issue of command or governance, because everyone is able to govern themselves (Or should be able too). Society cannot exist as a whole, cannot function properly, until those truths are realized. We are all different. We are all the same. No matter sex, race, religion... Difference is what makes us equal; difference is what makes us the same.

EDIT: And to respond to the top two posters (above my post that is). Men have a primordial urge to kill, to dismember, to destroy. We are killers. We seek out threats, and demolish them. We seek out agressors and rip them asunder. We seek out interlopers, and rip them of their life. We have a well-defined killer instinct. Do women not have that? No... There are many women who do. But men, have the monopoly on it. It is natural, chemical, bio-logical instinct that drives us. Can a women be such a herald of death? Of course... But can they all? No... Hell, not even all men can qualify. But the majority of men out rank the majority of women in such a thing. Not because we are better, not because we are more wickeded... But because, we are breed for "war", we are made to excel at it. Hunter/Gatherers.

Of course, who can argue with a mother who faces a threat to her children... I certainly wouldn't want to have to face that.

You're right Liquidtruth, but his post is in reference to one (or more) that was in a thread I started, and not really about generalizing as a whole... if you want to check it out the thread is "fucking highschool kids" and it's been closed per my request, but you should be able to find it here on general.

And Ipack.. I'll shoot up against you any day of the week and twice on sunday,

.. I come from a family of gun owners and sport hunters... and I have out shot everyone of my male counterparts in said family, with half the experiance... Since girls don't go hunting... like I'd want to, anyways... LoL...

I have to be honest, the farthest I've shot so far was about 500 yards, but I'll give the 700 a go... any time...

I think we as a nation over-generalize too much (US), and not just with women. Sex, sexual preferences, race, religion, everything, there is nothing that isn't oversimplified and overgeneralized in North America.

In fact, I'm writing a college level paper about the negative effects of biased oversimplfication and over-generalization right now.

Sure thing. I don't know If Im too confident in my writing abilities though. Btw, the main topic is about homosexuals and the effects that oversimplification can have on the debate over same-sex marriages.
