xbox live question

hey gc,
i am going to get a xbox for christmas (the orignal not the 360). i am doing this because it's less expensive, game prices for the orginal will probably go down as they try to promote the 360 more, and the 360 has a bunch of bugs which the old model already has worked out.

what will xbox live be like now there are two systems? will there be one network for each respective system, or will both systems share the same network?
if so, do you guys think online play for the original xbox will continue for a while or will it eventually just phase out to the 360?

also; how do you connect the xbox to the net to play xbox live? i have dsl internet connection and i have a wireless router that i have for my home network. do you have to connect the xbox directly into the dsl modem or can it pick up on the internet connection wirelessly like a laptop?

the problem for me is if it has to be connected directly. that's because the console system will be in a different room from the modem and wireless router.

I don't know what you mean by "network" but you won't be playing regular XBox games with XBox360 players (unless they're playing orig. xbox games in their 360) on Live.

There's an ethernet port in the back of the unit. It plugs into your router with a CAT5 (ethernet) cable. It's not wireless.

I know that microsoft has said that online play will continue to be supported for the original xbox. too many people still use the original xbox for them to just shut it off..they're makin money off of these subscribers, so they will continue to support the xbox as long as it makes money. it's the same network as before the 360 came out...but if you have 360, you can play other people that have the 360 and games that can only be played on the 360.

Halo2 still is able to be played on the 360, so on that game and a few others that they've made backwards-compatible...you could be playing someone who has a 360, or someone that has a regular xbox.

the original xbox doesn't support wireless connectivity, so you'll need to buy a xbox wireless adaptor

k so i bought a 360 on got it on the day it came out. no glitches whatsoever and online is the same as always. you can't tell who has what system....but i will tell you that when i play halo 2 online on the 360 it does work better and faster than the old xbox. oh and mine's wireless. i bought the adapter for it good stuff.
