I talked to her just a bit ago.

She said she wouldn't let him out after midnight anymore, and if she had to for any reason, she would stay outside with him and make sure he isn't out there barking.

Glad I have cool neighbors and it worked itself out.

That's very cool it worked out having a cool neighbor and all.

I have a toy fox terrier (very similar to jack russel) and if we let him out late at night he would always bark at strays and deer. We would immediately run outside and get his ass right back, we lived very close to a lot of neighbors. Anything but doing that is extremely rude.

I'm not even going to read this thread (because you cared to know, right? heh.) Anyway, a dog misbehaving is the owner's fault, not the dog's. Any cruelty to a domesticated animal sounds fucked up to me, especially if it's not the dog's fault that it acts this way...just like a child, if you don't teach it to not put a fork in a toaster, it won't know not to do it.

Some info on my neighbors: it's a hot milf, with 2 teenage kids. I've mentioned the fact that it keeps me from sleeping at night several times, but she never does anything about it. Normally, I'm a very confrontational person, but I like these people, and don't want to be a dick about the situation. Also, she knows I smoke weed, and knows where I work, so if she wanted to be a bitch, she could call my boss and rat me out. That's the last thing I want to happen.

I need to go about this diplomatically, which is out of the norm for me. How would y'all handle this ?

I feel your pain! I've been dealing with this exact issue for years.. I love dogs more than I like people by the way, but when the barking is never ending and starts to effect my daily life I get pissed. I have tried all sorts of things, but nothing ever really worked. I had a large empty trash can outside and when she would start the loud barking I'd go out and pick up a flat five foot board and haul off and knock the shit out of the empty trash can and lol it sounds like a shotgun. The dog shuts up immediately and doesn't start again for an hour or so.. I've called the police, I hate cops, so it's gotta be serious for me to do that.. They are worthless as we all know.. They're like you have to call and report it everytime the dog barks and we will send a car by for you to tell the officer what the problem is.. Fuck you! I'm not the one with the barking fucking dog. Here's the problem, the neighbors dog never shuts the fuck up, how bout you get your ass over there and do something.. That is what my inner voice is screaming at the police while speaking to them..

What I have decided to do is make a remote controlled 18 wheeler horn. You know those super loud horns on the big trucks? Yep that's the one.. I'm mounting it at the base of my fence and will let it rip everytime that stupid thing starts barking.. I know I'll probably erupt in teary eyed laughter the first few times I hit the button lol. I already have the horn and workings, I just need to rig it all up.

I should say, I've exhausted all attempts at a peaceful resolution to the barking.. The neighbors are extremely rude and ignorant.. I've sent them 5 letters, confronted them politely in person and have called the cops a few times.. That's when I decided I had to take matters into my own hands.. Making me lose sleep and function poorly at work or whatever I may be doing is unacceptable..

Good shit on going about it nicely. Just always remember you gotta live next to the people, might as well not have any beef. Im glad SHE was reasonable about it, cause Ive heard of people just straight being dicks and taking offense to little things like that.
