It has nothing to do with logic. Alcohol does much more damage than cannabis. Infact aside from the lung damage from the smoke cannabis does no damage. If you eat or vaporize it then it is completely safe.

Part of the problem is that the government is spreading a lot of bullshit through the anti-drug messages. People don't actually know the effects of drugs aside from a lot of completely inaccurate myths and rumors.

I wouldn't count on it becomming legal anytime soon.

My question is why are cigs legal? When they cause the most deaths in the entire US?
I think that pot should be made legal-and there should be some state "mary j" stores put around in the us (I'm talking about the us of course)

If these sort of stores where put into place and people could buy high quality pot--at cheaper prices then off the street--the drug war would go way down, crime rate would drop and people would be happier in generel!

They can't make cigs or alcohol illegal, because of all the campaign contributions from those industries. Also, the tax they get off of them is insane!! The reason marijuana is not legal? Simple, because they have to have a "war" on somthing, be it a war on iraq, a war on poverty, or a war on drugs. After all....it doesn't look very good to get your new senate seat..and not pass a law. So we have to "save" the people from this evil marijuana.

it's funny how exited they get when they make a big marijuana bust because it doesn't effect the users in any way since theirs so many dealers selling so many different types of weed from different sources and that will always keep up supplies. Theirs so much here in BC, we have like the best weed and it's cheap. I guess we have way more grow-ops then anyother province since theirs such a large market here and you can sell weed from here for more money.

Well, Marijuana was illegalized because of heavy petitioning by tobacco & brewing companies, if I remember right. They thought it would encroach on their profits, so they got it illegalized. It's been like that since then.

But then again, think how funny life would be if they had illegalized alcohol, and marijuana was legal? The would have things like a forum.barleycity.com. Selling drinking accessories! Like funnels! Of course, they wouldn't sell it to minors, or condone for it to be used to drink. Though everyone knows that they're for drinking. And people would be showing off their new steins on the barleycity.com forums instead of their new pipes/bongs.

Tobacco was the crop that got america started so that is why it is still legal. If marijuana was one of our cash crops, you know that there would be a weed store on every block

Somewhat. Marijuana started being illegalized (delegalized? unlegalized?) between 1915 and 1927 (depending on state). Prohibition was from 1920 - 1933.

Exactly. Alcohol and tobacco are both produced in the US, therefore the US government has some control over it and all the money being spent on it goes back into the US economy. The majority of marijuana comes from outside the US, therefore that money is going to an economy outside of the US.

And, by the way, it really does help if you imagine the chi-ching sound
