In my old History textbook was a picture of two famous prohibition enforcers from the '20s (Izzy and Moe)... Tokin' on a phat hookah! So funny, I was like "Erm... Sir?" I think if they were to do a sort of "trade" then tobacco should be illegal but mary-j legal, but that wouldn't happen. I'd be totally willing to give up alcohol for legal weed, though. I like getting drunk sometimes but it'd be worth it.

yeah i dont see weed becoming legal soon but i can virtually guarentee it will one day. BC already has legalized weed. and maybe (hopefully, god i hope) this will cause more provinces in canada to start taking action against its illegalization and when such a number of provinces have legalized or decriminalized weed, this will influence the US to start taking action to decriminlize and/or legalize. cuz im sure u all know or should know that like a year or two back, when canada first starting thinkin about decrim. weed, the US gov starting pleaing or maybe just talking to canada asking to not do such a action, so when canada starts, i believe it will only be a matter of time b4 the US starts its action to slow the war on drugs. and god i cant wait till the day. i think the number is 11 which 11 states have already decriminalized to an extent. i know in ohio that having possession of under 100 grams is only a meazly ticket for like $110 i think, virtually the same has a traffic ticket, which is fucking awesome. i mean 100 grams is a lot to ur everyday smoker and even ur small time dealer, shit thats a little over 3 ounces.

oh yeah, to people who think THC doesnt do anything to ur system, u r absolutely dead wrong. for starters, it gets u HIGH! thats chemically mind altering. and also, any substance/chemical u put into ur body, it will take an effect, whether its good or bad. and to the person who said "besides the fact of the effect on lungs from cannabis smoke, its virtually harmless and if u eat or use a vaporizer its harmless"now, to some extent u r right. and i paritally agree with u but i wouldnt ever make that argument myself. because while u are, to a certain degree, right, that also means u r partially wrong. now for an example, weed takes negative effects to ur body. it tires your brain after continuous use. if u dont believe, quit smoking for a couple days and tell me u dont feel refreshed or at least different. and dont take in the fact that u feel like shit because u wanna smoke and cant. and most people who smoke are mentally addicted whether they admit it or not, and any kind of addiction u cuz on ur body is definitly not good, even ifs a simple addiction to drinkin coffee every morning, because when u dont get ur coffee, u are not going to operate like u normally do. but when u drink ur coffee u think ur operating normally, but in reality, ur brain is using an addiction it urges and craves to make u feel like ur operating normally. ur body really only will operate, TRUELY, NORMAL if u never became addicted to ur coffee in the first place. hope this makes sense, and i wasnt argueing agasint you, i was rather helping u out and making a point, because believe me, i want marijuana legalized and i do believe marijuana can be completely safe as long as the user is smart enough to control and know what oneself is doing.

Tobacco was the crop that got america started so that is why it is still legal. If marijuana was one of our cash crops, you know that there would be a weed store on every block

Actually, during WWII, hemp was widely grown for the war effort. Just look it up on NORML. The government actually wanted farmers to grow weed! After the war, though, they banned it again. I mean, it's stupid enough that weed is still illegal. But hemp? Hemp can't even get you stoned, but it's still illegal here in the US. This is all so stupid... I'm sure the founding fathers of this country wouldn't have wanted the government controlling what people can and can not put in their bodies. Corrupt officials have ruined the American dream.

In Canada, they are currently in the process of making dime and nickel bags legal. Therefore, if you have a couple of dime bags or a doobie sitting in your ash tray, it is perfectly legal. What they don't want are these huge grow ops to be legal. Large amounts of marijuana will be illegal. The police officers do not want to deal with minor drug offendors (marijuana users) anymore because they do not want to do all the paper work. The courts also don't want these minor drug offendors because it waste's the courts time with something completely minor, when they could be dealing with rapists and murderers. Also, our prisons are FILLED with minor marijuana users, which our taxes pay for. It is completely idiotic of the goverment to not legalize marijuana. It would not only help society, but make society peaceful . Happy toking.

Cannabis got illegal due to it beeing in competition with heavyweight industries such as oil, cotton and lumber. During WW2 hemp was not only legal, but the US government payed farmers extra to grow it to help in the war-effort. Among other products made by hemp was synthetic fuel, textiles, paper, synthetic rubber. The list is really endless. Hemp won WW2

It stays illegal due to the vested interest already in place. Growers and sellers want to keep it illegal due to the high profits, likewize rehab-clinics and not to mention penal/law enforcement systems enjoy all the money that follows users getting in a jam. Politicians always know they can score cheap-points by attacking drug-use due to an uninformed public brainwashed by bad propaganda.

Another reason for cannabis staying illegal, is that cannabis promotes, hell, incites free-thought. And we can't have that, the masses are to be led by their nose, not going out seeking information by themselves, the ingrateful little tokin' twats

It has nothing to do with logic. Alcohol does much more damage than cannabis. Infact aside from the lung damage from the smoke cannabis does no damage. If you eat or vaporize it then it is completely safe.

Part of the problem is that the government is spreading a lot of bullshit through the anti-drug messages. People don't actually know the effects of drugs aside from a lot of completely inaccurate myths and rumors.

I wouldn't count on it becomming legal anytime soon.

does this apply to hash? if so, then how come many hash smokers that i know of that have been smoking for many many years have turn sort of zombified and pale sagging skin?
i ask this because this seems to be a long term effect for hash smokers.
i am in scotland so mostly hash is what is smoked
