The 'get to know the mods' thread

I'm back mother effers.
Couple more questions for the fine men and women who keep this wonderful thread alive.


1. Do ya'll have mod meetings? and decide stuff like banning people or new rules? Or does that come down from the webmaster?

2. To be a mod do you have to have over a certain number of posts? or is it the time that you've been here that helps decide?

3. Do you sign a contract? how long do you have to be a mod? is it like a supreme court judge type of job? or can you call it quits whenever?

4. Is there a hot new rule that is kinda close to being applied to the forum? Or are the rules that are now in place pretty much it?

5. Why isn't there a games section?

Years ago it seemed like mods posted a lot more as a member rather than an actual moderator, but that was before this pace got huge an there was more time to post casually.

Superjoint owns the place and when he started the forum, people started joining the community and we were just some of those people.

Trust is a big thing for our team and trust is what put everyone into their moderating positions.

No one on the moderating team works at the Shop. The Shop is in the Netherlands and we're all over the place.

I feel like I know all of them personally but I've only been face to face with one.
IndianaToker is the other Forum Admin. He's been on hiatus due to work, unfortunately. Anyway, we were friends on here, did the admin thing together, got that feeling, met, fell in love, did the long distance thing, got pregnant, he moved here and now we have a happy little family.

1. Do mods recieve any discounts from the shop?
There wasn't a real way to do discounts before the new Shop went live a few days ago. I'm pretty sure that SJ will do something like that now, though. However, he's been known to send care packages in the past.

2. Whats all you mods favorite foods Depends on my mood. Fruit is always good though.

3. Favorite Strain Too many.

Superjoint spends the majority of his time with the Shop and the back end of the forums so I'm the one who deals with the forum stuff, hence the Forum Admin title. I like to discuss things with the Mods and Super Mods before going through with most things though. They work hard around here and deserve to be included in decisions and such. They ROCK!!!

Hempress and Cottons are actually hostages and can never leave. I'm a hostage too. I've tried to escape but SJ has ninjas that come after me. Might as well give up on that.

People have lives. If they need to stop moderating, they can. They can take breaks if need be. Real life should always come first.

4. Is there a hot new rule that is kinda close to being applied to the forum? Or are the rules that are now in place pretty much it? I actually just updated the rules within the past week. So, nothing new since then...at least, not yet.

I've been here since February 2001. I'm member #113. I became a Super Mod in 2002 and then Forum Admin in 2004.

The Mods and Super Mods are like family to me. I'd do anything I could for any of them. They really do a lot for the City and the loyalty that they have to our community and to our moderating team is awesome and appreciated!

Superjoint is like my brother but I'm really closer to him than I am most of my own brothers so it's a bit more than that. There are people that you just connect with and understand and that's what happened with us. He and Indy are tight, too.

The City means a lot to me. It always has...even when it was coffeeshop-amsterdam.com.

Ha ha ha ha being a badass mod has zero value to me at this point. When I took over this responsibility I had no idea how much it involved and how much it would call on me to grow as a person. Before I became a mod I was legendary around this place, after I became a mod and had to start enforcing the rules and cracking down my name was more synonymous with shit stains and road kill. Many blades I was cool with stop talking to me and my own mother refused to call me on my birthday--kidding about my mother.

This is why I would insert a large caveat to anyone with the idea of joining the team, your relationship with the City will change profoundly, at least it did for me. It's a lot of thankless work because for the most part you get a shitload of PM's challenging everything from your blood type to your intelligence, and after a while it takes a toll. Doesn't matter how tough minded you think you are, sometimes it's really a downer when you log on and see PM's or visitor messages that are pretty fucking rough. I've really struggled with this because for awhile I tried to convince myself I was tougher than I actually am. Truth is, I'm just a big old softy and words fuck me up pretty easily, but I've managed to stick it out this long. How Rummy, Cottons and some of the old timers do it is frankly amazing. (I truly love you guys. )

GrassCity has opened my eyes tremendously to the beauty and ugliness of so many blades, if I had to do it all over again, fuck; I probably would because I really want to help.

I do not have an MMJ card, but I plan to eventually get one for chronic knee pain, which I do legitimately have (documented by a doctor since middle school).

Yes. We have weekly urine tests, and if we come up negative for THC we have to clean the bathrooms in Pandora's Box for a month.
