110 mpg '87 Mustang

Say goodbye to those weak ass hybrids. If only GM or Chrysler would have used a fraction of the bailout money they received they could have pulled themselves outta the grave.

YouTube - 110 MPG Mustang HP2g

Quote:
Now on to this specific case. Here we have a mechanic named Doug Pelmear with an ‘87 Ford Mustang that he claims gets 110 mpg, 400 horsepower, 500 ft-lbs of torque, and can do 0-60 in 3 seconds. According to Doug, the builder:“My grandfather had the idea back in the 40’s that he can make a difference then,” Pelmear says, “There was quite a need at that time also with the war going on and everything, there was quite the need then.” And quite a need now.

No way that would be cost effective for production lol.

Interesting though...

Re: 110 mpg '87 Mustang

I'm a bit sceptical as of right now, and gotta go to work.. but, if this is true, and possible w/o lots of add ons and extra money, maybe I'll think twice about selling my '92 and '93 5.0s.

Hybrids and gasoline are old school. Companies like Tesla using full electric power which deliver torque instantly are the future. Even GM bought a 10% stake in them, so I'm sure they'll be just fine.

Did you read the whole article? The general tone of the journalist tells me that this is just a hoax:
Quote:
In the end, Doug Pelmear doesn’t give us any reason to believe his claims. All his website states is that on the 14th of June the car will be tested at a race track. Sadly, that was posted on the 16th of June, and there were never any results. There are plenty of reasons to believe this is nothing more than a fuel price-related scam cooked up by someone pissed off that he got fired from his job at Ford, and unless there is some great revelation, I’m calling this a hoax. As always, feel free to disagree.

The author of that article is just sipping on some hateraide. He just started 2 produce these engines

Quote:
WAUSEON - The man who drove his 20-year-old Mustang from Napoleon, Ohio, to Las Vegas and back last year on 39 gallons of fuel will open his first manufacturing facility Monday to allow others to get 110 miles per gallon. Doug Pelmear, owner of Horse Power Sales.net Inc. and Hp2G LLC, will hold an open house Monday morning in the idle 100,000-square-foot factory he has leased in Wauseon to begin manufacturing his revolutionary engine. The factory, on the Fulton Industries Inc. campus in Wauseon, will be tooled to initially turn out 20 of Mr. Pelmear's custom engines per day with one shift of 25 workers.

I'm calling BS still. He needs to demonstrate the technology and hard evidence from an outside source.

Can't wait until the day I own a car totally independent from gasoline.

Electric is the way to go.

Ive been reading into this for a while now and everyone says that as of right now electric cars are just a good idea. We know we can make them and we know they work but right now the only problem is battery. Without developing a better battery we can make electric cars work. The Tesla that are rolling out right now ill need their batteries replaced completely in 3 to 4 years. and that no small cost. Electric cars cost as much as the battery and motor costs because if someone invents a better battery all we need to do is gut our existing gas cars. As people like my dad have done as projects. Till then only the rich would even think of spending $109000 for a car that will expire in 3 years.

How much are you selling the Stangs for? I'm might go back to Florida next month and I love Mustangs. My favorite is the 99-04 model though.
