So my parents just gave me a check with a pretty nice amount on it. They didn't sign it however but did intend to give it to me. If I sign it for them, then sign it on the back, can I still cash it? Any advice would be nice. I'm pretty sure if I sign for them, I'm breaking the law. Would it still work? Thanks guys!
If you have thier consent you can sign it. Otherwise if you are simply forging thier name/s then you will go to jail if it is a substantial amount. It does not matter if your parent press charges or not, the fraud is against the bank. I would simply go get your parents to sign it just to be safe.
They live a few hundered miles away. It's only for a couple hundred. I need the money by tomorrow and I really don't see a way that can give me a check signed that quickly. So I think I'm going to do it and hope and pray I don't go to jail...
