Cashing a check

  1. So my parents just gave me a check with a pretty nice amount on it. They didn't sign it however but did intend to give it to me. If I sign it for them, then sign it on the back, can I still cash it? Any advice would be nice. I'm pretty sure if I sign for them, I'm breaking the law. Would it still work? Thanks guys!

  2. If you have thier consent you can sign it. Otherwise if you are simply forging thier name/s then you will go to jail if it is a substantial amount. It does not matter if your parent press charges or not, the fraud is against the bank. I would simply go get your parents to sign it just to be safe.

  3. They live a few hundered miles away. It's only for a couple hundred. I need the money by tomorrow and I really don't see a way that can give me a check signed that quickly. So I think I'm going to do it and hope and pray I don't go to jail...

  4. can you not call them and at least get permission first? It would atleast give you piece of mind.
