I like how his lawyers say he was in imminent danger and he was defending his life, then why were they shot in the back?

But it's true, it is Texas. Hell I've been in Idaho and you can practically shoot people for just coming on to your property. What did they expect?
Well put. We can also add that none of the robbers was armed and Mr. Horn saw no weapon. In defense of the burglars (though I do not condone the crime by any means), they intentionally chose a house they knew was not occupied (people were on vacation). Again, they did not have any intention of using violence as they had no weapon of any kind.

Mr. Horn, should have told them to stop and if they moved he would shoot them. Heck, even shoot them in the leg if you want; but you do not shoot two men in the back who are not threatening you. This is just sickening.

Again, different story if it happened to your own house, but he hardly even knew his neighbors.

Guy had a shotgun, lives in a really nice neighborhood, so he thought to himself "well since this may be my only chance to use this baby and get away with it, im just going to kill them"[serious]

I wish he had been thrown in jail for life...in a case where the burglers had a gun and they went into HIS house and threatened his life, that would be different. This guy just wanted to try out his shotgun

shooting them in the back is fucked up. he could have just shot them in the legs, it would have been just as effective, and nobody would be bitching.

According to the testimony, he announced to the 911 operator that he was going to go shoot them. Before he had confronted them. That shows criminal intent.

He could not at that time have said with any degree of certainty that these men were any threat, he was still in his own house. But he said he was going to go kill them.

And he did, despite the 911 operator advising him not to, and to wait for the police.

He's a premeditated murderer. Just because he's a rich redneck in a state that caters to rich rednecks, he gets away with it.

One mans burglar is another mans victim, but because he victimized immigrants, its OK?

No justice in texas.

Under the table people have been advised to shoot to kill if defending against an invader in Texas. The criminal has the ability to sue for damages if he comes out alive.

And fuck those degenerates. I don't know if they should have been killed but they obviousley have zero respect for laws or society

It's very unfortunate, but here in Texas, it is shoot to kill. If he had just wounded them, he probably would have went to jail because they could have filed charges against him. Shit like this has happened before where the robber gets punished less than the shooter if he lives.

EDIT: dam buzzard, took the words right out of my mouth before I posted, and I only realized I was too slow after I posted

I don't agree with this case in particular, as he did scare the perpetrators off with his gun, but it should have been left that way. There was no reason that he should have shot them in the back as they were running away.

Colorado is a state that's supportive of the 'Make-My-Day Law', which means that if there is any unwelcome person on your property that refuses to leave or is an imminent threat to yourself, your family, or your belongings is subject to be shot, and leaving them dead or alive is up to you. I've asked several people at different gun shops around town, and they've all said the same thing: 'Shoot first and ask questions later. Make sure they don't get up, either, or they could quite possibly recover and sue the living shit out of you. If you shoot, shoot to kill.'

I guess it's all up to personal opinion.

i live about 30 minutes from the area where this happened. Everyone, you can say what you want trying to defend those criminals, but you don't know what it's like out here. If you enter someone's property illegally in this state you KNOW that you might be shot...

Shit, I can't tell you the number of times i've lost my temper, and told myself to chill out...simply because EVERYONE out here has guns. Everyone, i know more than 15 people in my tiny subdivision alone.

Bottom line, you don't fuck around like that out here, you WILL get shot. Period.

Example: not too long ago a bar around here had a shooting. Why? Someone tried to rob someone with a knife and he put 4 holes in him right on main street. woot! go 2nd amendment!

Yeah when I lived in texas for a couple years, I did not even try to ding dong ditch people or any stupid shit because its serious out there.

However, I believe the man could have handled it in a better way, I dont think the outcome should change, but the man could have handled in easier, as in shoot them in the legs as they are running away.

what if they came back? and had a weapon that time?
i completely agree with this
in any case he is prolly scared to shit and has a gun sees his attackers its a tough situation that the robbers put him in so its their fault ..they should be the only ones who suffer the consequences of this

I think i heard a bit about this and that one of final decision points was that even though they were running away, they had just commited a crime and that their credibility to not shoot at the guy was worth while for the man to shoot them in the back for self defense.
