Tool artwork inspired tatoo

So I want to get my first tatoo on my left arm. I would like it to be something to do with the band tools artwork. Maybe something off of lateralus. Preferably something trippy with some kind of meaning to it. Anyone know of some site or something that has a lot of tools art on it. I need ideas. Also any tips on getting a first tatoo or picking out a design would be bomb

thanks in advance, blaze on

Yep. Alex Grey did the artwork for practically every Tool Album post-Opiate.

Definitely look into his work, but I would recommend ordering a few high quality prints for your tattoo artist to base his initial sketch off of.

Oh, by the way, Alex's work is very, very elaborate, so choose your tattoo shop very wisely. Ask to see the work of the artist that will be doing your ink, ask around for recommendations, read reviews, etc. You don't want somebody completely destroying your piece because they weren't as experienced as you were led to believe.

going to his gallery is a great experience. His artwork is giant all over the gallery. It also holds drum circles every once in a while and its so fun.

My favorite piece by him is over-soul.

I would like to visit it at least once in my life, we were supposed to go there last time we were in NY but we got lost on the way (doing acid in NYC is fucking insane), my favorite piece's are Theologue and Lightweaver.. I do have a question though, did Alex Grey do the makeup and artwork for this video too?

Edit:

It isn't Tool related but if you like Alex Grey's style you'll probably like Jeff Hopp.

I think he did man, I think it shows him on the special features on the DVD. It's possible it could have been schism tho

Even so, the intricacies of each individual eye would prove to be fairly difficult to anything less than a very accurate tattoo artist. Believe it or not, those needles can't get very small..

But, to BlueFlame1986, you shouldn't have any legal troubles at all when asking your tattoo shop to do some of Grey's work. On his site it says that it's 100% legal to use his work for tattoos, so long as you employ a highly experienced artist to render his work properly on your skin.

By the way, get a picture up on here when it's done and send a copy to info@alexgrey.com

Good luck!

I Was just talking about the eye. In the middle. Not the ring of eyes on the outside. Buddy of mine has the eye (in the middle) as a tattoo.
