all those people are still peers though (ithink?) its like p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p2p

Use this http://dban.sourceforge.net/

Then reformat/install windows.

EDIT: It still might be possible to make the open network case. Since wired and wireless connections don't look any different to the outside or inside network. The only difference is speed.
So you recommend downloading that program and then selectively erasing the music files? Or are you saying I should delete EVERYTHING with that program and then reformat windows?

Yes, and the more people and different connections get involved, the harder it is to pin it down on one person.... they'd also have to go after hundreds or thousands of others who downloaded the same torrent.

All of this keeps the RIAA from tracing whole files to individual connections. Plus, since the actual torrent files do not store copyrighted data, the use of the technology itself does not constitute copyright infringement. The only thing they can really do is go after the original sources and the websites that provide the searches and means to download things illegally.
Yes torrents do hash checking to ensure the pieces you are downloading are legit to the file. The file could still be a fake.

Torrent files have no copyrighted info in them. They are just meta data; however, you use the torrent to point you in the direction of many ips to download an assemble the copyrighted info. So when you use torrents after your client reads the torrent file you start downloading actual data be it legal or not.

If you take a look at Azureus you can see all connections being made you and what parts they download. This info can be used to get names from ISPs.

Wipe EVERYTHING this program will ensure all info on your drive will never be readable again.

You don't want log files to be remade

Once the program is done go ahead and install windows again.

Oh nice, so that program will erase everything for me? I vaguely remember being taught how to erase everything and install windows again but it seemed complicated. Hopefully that program will simplify things a bit.

Someone asked what P2P program my boy used... it was called Ares. He got an email from RIAA saying, "blah blah, your getting sued bitch, blah blah blah."

At the school I went to programs like Limewire wouldn't even work, so nobody could download illegally. I think that's reasonable, if they don't want people doing it they should make it so you can't if possible. Then anyone who gets in trouble would deserve it for hacking in and doing all sorts of things for a few free songs.

A lot of times getting stuff free off the internet just makes me want to go out and buy a certain CD, one I wouldn't have bought otherwise. Who wants to go out and buy CDs of things they aren't sure if they like?? CD quality is always better so if I like something enough I'll get a good version.

or you could even just download it, i did, although you might have to search on the net for a serial key. but i did it

worth a shot...good luck man
It's $50 bucks, although, as you said I can probably get a key for it. I'm not sure what you're saying though... does that program permanently delete specific selected files or does it delete everything? It almost seems like it would be easier to just do what Dark_Angers said.

it deletes the trace shit of stuff you have deleted already via the recycle bin. it leaves all other files intact. becuase if you just delete it in the recycle bin computer techs can still find it on your drive

yea its pretty nice. it goes up to 35 passes over the free space to delete the data and it says 7 passes will stop all hard-ware based recovery methods and is the number required by the US Department of Defense.
edit: and system mechanic itself is a pretty good program and it comes with a firewall and anti virus

If it was just an Tech kid who looked into your comps files then they cant charge you.... Has to be a warrented search done by police hired official/ and or cop. But you may violate this right by using campus internet(Meaning certain workers can look into your computer.(Exactly like a school locker).
