Im pretty sure that FDR didnt just up and be like "aight we gon drop a A bomb on these *****s!" He did it to keep from having to send in a shitload of ground troops INTO Japan its self. Besides after pearl harbor General Yamamoto said "I believe we have awoken a sleeping bear"(I think).

These mother fuckers KNEW they was gonna get fucked up, all they had to do was surrender and they could have saved hundred of thousands of Japanese lives.

One of the main reasons the bomb was actually dropped was simply because of how much was spent on it.

I don't think Congress would have been happy to know that the $2 billion program they authorized (classified) was going to be cut, and that nothing would have come out of it.

Imagine the reaction from the American people if they found out that tons of money was just thrown around for research.

Of course, this type of spending is now the standard.
