Yet to find decent friends at college.

So I still have yet to find a decent group of friends after ditching my other friends who were a bunch of saps/moochers. It's been difficult, at least for me, to find anyone who fits the type of friends I'd like to have. I go to a mostly commuter school in Chicago and I live on campus. Some of my classmates are cool but most if not all commute from the suburbs so it's difficult to find people to hang with that way. Pretty much everyone I know in the dorms obviously live on campus for the partying and the ones I don't know probably don't come out of their room as much or I just haven't been a situation to talk to them. I've tried the gym but I found that most of the athletes were against weed, and that, in Chicago, most of the people who smoke are the typical hippie stoners. Anyway, I'm just wondering if there are any college students, who in high school had lots of friends (or not) and just hasn't fit in yet with anyone in college. I just want a few decent friends who smoke (or don't mind when people do it) that I can chill with or w/e since I'm not a huge fan of the frat parties (there are few anyhow). Anyways I'm kinda ranting once again I'm by myself chillin' on a blunt and browsing the forums, listening to music. I'm a loner at heart, and I know this. I love being by myself, but everyone needs friends. I prefer a just a few but I've come up short even in that respect.

I know what you mean, it can be really hard to find good friends like your friends back home. It's even harder when you waste the beginning of the school year with the wrong crowd. Hopefully you can find a few good friends. That's all you really need is just one good friend, having nobody is never any fun.

I first felt that when I got at my college, I then decided I hated the people I was hanging out with, so I started looking for more friends, and while I found some there only okay.

You should go out looking for friends like you do for girls, think about what you want, what they chould be cool with, and then go looking for them at places where you personally would hang out.

yah in highschool i had tons of really close friends and even more aqutaiences (spelling?) and now that im in college i have like only one really close friend at the college and a ton of aqutianences. i still live at home and go to a community college but all my friends pretty much went away for college. ah well

your situation sounds very similar to my own. i don't know what crowd i want to hang out with more. i know i can fit into a good group of people, but they don't know i smoke the ganj. as of right now, i am working on getting more girl friends. its a slow process.

I'm in somewhat of the same position. There are some people who I'd like to hang with sometimes, but I'm afraid they'd judge me. I'm thinking about introducing them to my first love - Mary Jane.

go to some house parties (assuming you cant get into a bar) to meet people. I met a bunch of friends and connects at random house parties in college.

I started my college friend-making career by becoming good friends with 2 or 3 people, then becoming friends with their aquaintances, etc. Eventually you'll meet the whole campus and can pick which people you think you'd want to be friends with. I'm still working on the "whole campus" part, and it's slower since I'm a commuter and everyone lives on campus (I hang out at the dorms a lot though), but I've met a lot of really cool people this way. Climbing up the ladder, dude. It really does take time. I'm in my second semester and I still only have a few friends. I mean, I had tons of aquaintances in high school. I'm not anti social or a nerd (I'm a secret computer geek. shhh none of my friends know) or anything, I'm just really picky about who I trust. That's a good thing, though.
