Well I opend my christmas persent from my dad and he bought me a 360 elite. I am happy. I play it for 20 minutes and I got the three red rings of death. I am using the towel trick now. Its about 7 minutes into the cooling process. If you dont know what the towel trick is i have included a video.

I broke down and had to buy one, though (360 Pro).

Hope things work out.

If not - send it back and make the fuckers fix/replace it.

Im guessing you didnt read the instruction manual for it. and you probably plugged it into a surge protector. The Xbox360 has a built in surge protector on its power cord. It needs to be plugged directly into an outlet, not into a surge protector.

Microsoft will not replace a console because you didnt care to read the instructions for you 400$ gaming console.

If this isnt the case, then disregard this post and proceed to send it back.

sorry bro about your bad luck with christmas...I remember one christmas when I opened up my xbox (first one) and took it all out and looked at it with my friend, and put it back in the box..and when I went and opened it I didn't see a power cord...and I looked frantically...and when I almost gave up in a massive disappointment...I just so happen went to my moms room (where I opened it up the first time, but didn't even think to look here) and in the corner of my eye on the bed table I saw a cord and chaching! it was it...and then I thought to my self...was that there the whole time!? It must have been bc I opened in the living room christmas day...hehe I got lucky and played halo for the first time

btw I got a 360 pro! it comes with two games, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza motorsport2!....I thought that was all the games I got...I was happy..then my mom pulled a little deploy, and hid halo 3 underneath my jeans in a box...

I saw the jeans..yay jeans..saw halo3

Your tripping dogg. na jp. but im making a video of my own towel trick. Ill probally have it posted up later on tonight or maybe tommorow.

EDIT: I did it wrong and it did not get hot enough. I am trying it over. Wish me luck. Also to maddenking, i called microsofts helpline, or what ever it is and they said that they would fix it for me.

Thats crazy, does an extension cord count as a surge protector??? like the white or brown cords that have 3 outlet plugs???

my baby bro got a 360 for xmas, so we def want to take care of it. We only let his ass play like 1-2 hours a session.

Also the towel trick is nuts, cant believe it works. What happened to the good old days when your cartridges didnt work you just blew in them and BOOM you get to play punchout or super mario haha

try to get a falcon 360. The RROD failure rate is supposed to be drastically reduced. I've had my 360 since january of 2007 and so far its been running very well. No hiccups.

this totally puts me off getting an xbox 360, at least until the prices have gone down.. no way am i going to beta test their unfinished console for them lol

Ive heard that its the processor over heating to the point of system or "hardware" failure.
