It is legit - politicians are habitual liars, although Paul seems different than most candidates we have seen in the past. However, he is facing a huge disadvantage to begin with. He lacks the support of older voters.

Not necessarily true, I attended a rally in DC and there were people from all age groups. The majority were definitely 18-35, but there were plenty older supporters. With the Republican field not having a clear cut leader, all those other older voters are split up between four other candidates so that doesn't really hurt him.

I think running as a Republican will be is downfall. He is more of a Liberterian and his views are not Republican and not Democratic. He doesn't get the support like Romney and Guiliani.

I just want to chime in to say that if the only thing you're looking at while studying for the election is a president's stance on marijuana, to please not vote.

"I don't care if I disagree with the majority of his policies, the guy wants marijuana decriminalized!"

IMO It shouldn't be "Whatever, I want legal pot...."

I love most of his views, unfortunately the man is crazy about some things.
Anyone who wants to turn this country isolationist scares the hell out of me,and he wants to kill the IRS... BLEHHHH
Simply enough I cant vote for that even if he wants medical MJ, wants to protect 2nd amendment rights, stop abortion and try to end the war in Iraq and war on drugs.

He ran as a Libertarian in 1988 and announced he is not going to run as a third party candidate ever again simply because our country just will not elect a third party to the White House, it's damn near impossible. He is a Republican, just not the Republican you grew to know and hate during your lifetime. The party has gone drastically off charter. Sure he doesn't get the support like Romney and Guiliani because he's not a billionaire and he wasn't already a nationally known figure. But Republicans aren't happy with their choices and he's garnishing more and more support each day from disenfranchised voters. Hopefully after tomorrow the mainstream media will finally accept that he is a serious candidate and does have a legitimate chance of getting the nomination.

I think most people just like what he stands for man...it has nothing to do with what he's gonna do if he gets elected.

The only time the word "isolationist" has ever come out of Ron Paul's mouth is when he's explaining how he is not an isolationist. There is a HUGE difference between being an isolationist and having a foreign policy of non-interventionism.

And what's wrong with abolishing the IRS?

No, it has everything to do with what he's going to do if he gets elected! That's why they like him!

Yea because legalizing weed and abolishing the CIA are such popular positions in this country

I know but can you really blame them? He's one of the first presidential candidates to even speak about these issues. Of course people are going to jump to support him.

"Isolationism is a foreign policy which combines a non-interventionist military policy and a political policy of economic nationalism (protectionism). In other words, it asserts both of the following:

1. Non-interventionism - Political rulers should avoid entangling alliances with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense.
2. Protectionism - There should be legal barriers to control trade and cultural exchange with people in other states."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolationist

In other words, NOT what Ron Paul is encouraging. And you really think we need the IRS? They complicate shit far more than it needs to be and there's no transparency. FairTax would mean everyone pays the same, no unscrupulous tax breaks for the rich.
