Job questions

Aight, A while back I had a job at Target. I got fed up with that shit and straight left one day and never came back. Now, I also work roofing, not legit, I dont pay taxes on this job. Now, if I were to put on a job application that I left target without 2 weeks notice could that hurt my chance at the job? What if I had a legit reason to just up and leave? Also would it hurt my chances more or less to just say that Ive never had a job before on an application?

Target is the only job Ive ever had that I had to pay taxes. ANyways, help a ***** out.

most of the time they dont even call your previous employer because by law the previous employer isnt allowed to say anything more than if you are rehireable. and that sucks on both sides.

for one you could have given your 2 weeks and shit was ok in leaving but the question is WOULD they hire you back. thats stuff the employer cant say.

for two, in one case i had i worked at a movie theatre and i was moving and i went to give my 2 week notice and the manager was like well i havent even done next weeks schedule so why dont we just say we had this conversation and yada yada. well i go back to get that job again but they said i wasnt rehirable cuz i didnt work those 2 weeks, yet they hired me back anyways cuz i was a manager before.

so basically the employers on both sides know they literally cant say anything about your history as an employee other than the fact that you worked there and if you are or arent rehireable. so they most of the time dont even call. unless you are being offered like 15 an hour plus and then maybe they will give a shit.

what kind of job are you looking at getting?

I wouldn't worry about it too much...I doubt that Target would give you a bad referrence just for leaving without a notice. Big companies like that have nothing to gain and everything to lose by badmouthing former employees.

Thats good and interesting information. But are you sure that that isnt just for your state, and not in a state such as Florida?

What's wrong with the roofing job? Doesn't it pay better than working at a store?

I myself do some roofing every summer, and I think it's not a bad job at all. Sure, it sucks to be out in the scorching sun, but IMHO it's still much better than having to smile and be polite to bitchy moronic costumers in a store. And the work atmosphere is usually great in construction. It's great to live the stereotype and whistle at passing chicks from a rooftop while wearing a hard hat.

If worst comes to worst, you can tell your potential employer that something serious came up that caused you to quit Target immediately. (Make up a story)
