I use this forum a lot, and there are several minor annoyances in posts that can be easily fixed with a little effort. This thread is about doing certain things to make your post more enjoyable for the rest of us to read.
Embedding Videos This is a big one. There might be a thread "check out this vid!" And all that's in the thread is a link to another page. Many video hosting sites offer an option to embed the video into a post. YouTube is a popular one, so I'll show you where to do it. In this picture, the red arrow is pointing to the embed link on the page. Highlight it, then copy and paste the link into your post. ![]() On other video hosting sites, just look for the "Embed" option. Pictures Embedding pictures is slightly different, but not much. The first thing you are going to want to do is find the direct link(url) to the image. With Firefox, you can just right click the image, and click "Copy Image Location" Shown here: ![]() If you are using browser that does not have that option, there is still a way to find out the url for the image. Right click on the image and click "Properties" ![]() A box will popup with the information about the picture. Somewhere should be the location of the image. Highlight it and copy it. ![]() To check if you have the url to the image, paste it into your browser. A page should load with the image, and nothing else. ![]() Now that you have your image location (url) copied to the clipboard, click this button: ![]() A box will appear that says "Please Enter the URL of your image" In the box, paste the url and voila! ![]() This is linking an image from another website, if you have an image on your computer that you want to upload, there are several image hosting sites you can use. http://photobucket.com/ This is what I use, it requires registration, but you will have your own account that you can upload pictures to. Easy navigation http://imageshack.us/ No registration, just upload and link. http://www.photodump.com/ Never used it, but I've seen people that have. Looks like it requires registration. Enormous Pictures In some cases I enjoy enormous pictures, like of a very detailed bud shot. The larger the picture the more justice it does for the bud. For other things however there is no reason at all to post such large pictures. I don't know about the other 2 sites above, but photobucket will resize all pictures larger than 800x600 to 800x600. If nothing else, take your image to paint and size it down a bit. Quoting Pictures Sometimes a post will contain several images of something. A lot of times there is one particular image that will stand out that you'd like to quote. Hitting the quote button, it quotes every picture in the original post. Please go through the quote, and delete the pictures you don't want to comment on. It is irritating seeing a series of images posted over and over because people are too lazy to go back and delete the other pictures. Posting/Linking Articles If you are going to post an article about something, don't post JUST the link. A lot of the time I don't click on the links because I don't want to visit a site I wouldn't venture to myself. Copy and Paste the article directly to your post, then at the bottom post a link to the source page. The Multi-Quote Button Sometimes in a thread, a person wants to reply to several other posts. In this situation, that is what the Multi-Quote button is for. ![]() Click this button on every post you want to quote. When you click it, it will look like this: ![]() After you've selected all the posts you'd like to respond to, click the quote button: ![]() This will bring up a reply box with every post that you selected with the multi-quote button. That's about all I can think of right now. Anything anyone else would like to add?

The only think I have a problem with is resizing pictures. If I take a pic with my camera held normal, it's fine, but if I turn it vertically, it messes up the size, and I can't load it on GC. When I try to resize it, my comp crops out what i want it to, then resizes it to its original size.
