i completely agree with the fact that the drinking age should be lower than the driving age. im not 21 yet but i've been able to get alchol since i was 17 due to friends, my facial hair, or just pulling a "hey mister". its taken me 3 years worth of hard drinking to finally start to be able to control myself when i get trashed. If it becomes widely accecpted and not frowned upon then things will change. but until then nothing will

Honestly, there may be some validity to the drinking age. I seem to remember catching a statistic on alcohol-related accidents spiking during a short period where it was lowered to 18, but I can't vouch for how scientifically sound it was.

Regardless, just how fucking difficult is it to procure alcohol under the age of 21? Hand a friend a grocery list and some cash, and let them pick it up for you. The only way you could possibly get into trouble while drinking underage is by putting yourself into a situation where you deserve legal repercussions.

welp, I think its shitty that us americans have a longer waiting time to drink....I mean I have just turned 21 my self, but I still think that the other countries should up their age to 21 like us, so they can feel our pain of waiting

I think anyone should be able to do want they want when they are an adult (18). Sadly, if we were to lower the drinking age, there could be a drop in accidents or there could be an increase. Just because you lower the drinking age and try to get people to look at it as "just another thing," people still will get fucked up on it. Our society view it as a way to get fucked up... Other countries view it as another part of their daily lives. Just because we lower the age, it doesn't automaticly change the way people use it.

id tend to disagree, although im not sure what the age u can start driving in america, isnt it like 12 before a certain time in the day?

fresh drivers are usually better (unless drunk of course, but thats a no no). driving laws and knowing how to use a blinker are still fresh in the mind of someone who has just learnt to drive. im always having to adjust to other peoples mistakes on the road.. mainly old women drivers from my observations.

maybe the drink age was so high because the driving age is so low, maybe its so people dont confuse the two.

however about the 18 year olds being worse drivers, it is true that they lack experience and therefore may react to a sudden hazzard worser by over reacting (ie slamming on the breaks and having 10 cars pile up their ass)

It varies by state but in no way is it even close to 12 in any state. I got my permit at 15 and a half, and that's when I could drive with an adult in the passenger seat. I got my probationary license at 16, which means I can drive myself and a few friends but only within certain hours of the day (not past 11 or midnight I think, unless travelling to/from work/school). Then at 18 you get your full blown, I can drive whoever I want whenever I want license.

I don't really care about the drinking age because it's accessable to kids that are underage anyway.. If they lowered it, that might cause kids to stop and think.. hey.. this isn't as cool as it used to be when I had to sneak around and try not to get caught.

I'll just stick with my buds, which will never be legal.

Yeah, I live in the UK and you can easily go to the pub with your parents for a few beers at 15... the cops are wankers, especcially when their driving you home at 4am... do they shine torches in your face over there too?

I'm going to amsterdam with the boyf soon - so fuck this shite-hole! (lucky us, amsteram is just a 2hr flight away) btw - happy valentines day everybody!

You can drive a tractor over here at age 15 (or is it 14?) and be drunk - nobody stops a tractor for D.U.I's !

Well maybe not drunk, though I have seen pissed kids driving tractors!

America, at 18-20 you can go to war, get married, vote, have kids, get a job, but can't have a nice cold beer at the end of the day.

he he, in germany you can drink and smoke when you are 16

Where Im from, drinking age is 18. But it doesnt matter, cause kids start to drink as young as 12 Alcohol, unlike weed, is really cheap and easy to get And they complain about alcoholism in my country. fuckin retards

Not that I dont like a beer once in a while I just think (obviously) that getting high is sooo much more beneficial to you than gettin wasted...

And I think it really depends on peoples mentality and laws dont really change anything...

agreed if your old enough to go to war, your old enough to buy a beer. but I can see the drunk driving deaths going way up, american teens need to be responsible and control themselves. I know not all teens are irresponsible but the majority are. IMO.

It should really be lowered though. At 16 we're old enough to drive a car, which could easily killed somebody. Driving is a huge responsibility. Then at 18 your old enough to choose to kill yourself with cigarettes and vote for the president. Then at 21 you can enjoy a beer. If you ask me driving should be upped to 18 as it's a pretty big responsibility and drivers should be responsible for themselves, drinking should also be lowered to 18.

Right now I'm old enough to do pretty much anything I want. I can move out and rent an apartment and drive my car and buy cigarettes and fight for this country...but at the end of the day I can't enjoy a drink without breaking the law.

Its hard to get 16 year olds to run your mc donalds and clean your dishes for 6 bucks an hour when they can't drive.
