High school is like someone saying "hey, here's some basic information about a variety of subjects, so you can decide what you want to do." You can either completely blow everything off and not try to better yourself with what you have, or you can get a little bit out of it and decide what you want to do with your life. Whether you barely graduate or work your ass off, it doesn't really make that much of a difference. I do agree that we should have more specialized education early on though.

People seem to have the idea that getting a good education means that the rest of your life is going to be consumed by a career you dislike. To me, it's the complete opposite. I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I'm in college is because I don't want to be stuck with a job related to something I'm completely uninterested in. By being able to declare a major and specialize what you're learning, you're giving yourself the oppurtunity to get a job you really enjoy. You say you don't want to talk about how shitty your job is, but you admit that you need it in order to have money and survive. Well I'd rather have a job that I enjoy rather than having one simply for money/survival. And in our society unless you get a good education, it's virtually impossible to have a job you enjoy. Unless you enjoy flipping burgers, cleaning up after people, and performing manual labor. (I realize there are exceptions.)

I think we can agree that it's important to enjoy our lives. So why not have a job that you at least somewhat enjoy rather than being stuck with one that totally sucks? Unless you're homeless or independently wealthy, you're probably going to spend a large amount of your life working. I'd rather make that time as enjoyable as possible, and therefore get a good education.
I decided it was not very important to learn because I do not want to take that career path, I want to start a career in computers. I'm not very good at many things except science and history. So I found something I'm good at and like, some people aren't any good at any of that stuff. What possible harm could come from skipping highschool dropping out, getting my GED going to trade school and get my career in computers? I mean I'll be making alot of money and all but that definately was not from any academic course.

I've learned my english pretty well, I know enough math to get my by in this world. History.. I'm good at but theres not much you can learn from that unless you are important. Science I like, it's very interesting but I do not see myself taking that path. I like to see it as a limit that I'm comfortable with, I cannot fit everything in my head at once. I have to learn something one by one, I can't do all sorts of stuff in one day. The education system thinks thats how it works but it really doesn't. So I'm classified as an idiot.
