How to Quit Smoking

ok so i have decided that i want to quit smoking cigarettes for real. i really want to quit smoking cigarettes i dont even really like them anymore i just smoke because i smoke there is no point anymore. i know that there is an assload of resources online on how to quit and advice and shit but i wanted to hear from someone real who has quit not someone they may have paid to advertise their site or product or whatever. i will be researching other sites but it would be better to hear from someone that i know is real and can give me some advice. i am not going to get patches or anything because its cheaper in the short run just to smoke cigarettes than those and i dont have the money for that right now. so basicly if any of you blades have succesfully quit smoking on your own could you tell me what you did and if you have any advice on what i should do it would be greatly appreciated. i just dont want the burden of cigarettes on my wallet or concience any more so as soon as i can break this horrible addiction im done with them.
