Search button

Today I clicked on the search button and when it dropped down there was a " show threads " and " show posts " button. This made me extraordinarily happy. I just noticed this today, and I constantly would click on Advanced search to use this. Thank you, GC for doing this. If I could rep GC I would.

What's REALLY obnoxious is when you actually do use the search and you get no results. You notice a typo, fix it, and then it tells you that you have to wait 30 more seconds (max). No wonder no one uses it. I understand how it increases strain on the database, but in reality I doubt it hardly increases it. And if it does and your having database load problems, I highly suggest implementing memcache. It'll save you lots of database querying. Wikipedia uses it I believe.

Basically, REMOVE THE SEARCH FLOOD TIMER. I understand a flood timer for posting, but for searching?! Sorry, but that's EXTREMELY lame.

I have to agree. And for me, the search button isn't accurate enough sometimes. I can type in the EXACT name of the post and i'll get who knows how many hits to search through. Or just a basic search for mass results and don't get shit. But my GC site has fucked up for me lately, like the fast reply, search, etc. So maybe it hates me.
