grateful dead live

this may be in the wrong place, but no one looks at the music form and this is sort of general.

i think a few people on this site might like the grateful dead, so heres the question. Of all the live recordings which one is the best. i have EVERY studio album, but i'm really short on the live stuff. personally i like 9-14-74 because it has this great ver. of eyes of the world i haven't found any where else.

just post your favorite live grateful dead album. or if your not a big dead fan what are some of your other favorite live recordings?

You can download a bunch of live shows that people have recorded over the years (about a 30 year span). Files are huge though, so you probably wont want to download to many unless you have an external hard drive. Anything between 67-78 is basically golden, and you probably wont find any bad shows until the mid to later 80s.

As for actual live albums... The closing of winterland ia great. Europe 72', Fillmore west 1969, and Filmore east 71 are all great albums too. Also, pretty much any of the "dicks picks" albums, are great.

Internet Archive: Grateful Dead

Here's a website where you can stream all the shows, and you can download the audience recordings. You used to be able to download the soundboards, too, but I believe Bob Weir and his lawyer sued. I won't hold it against him.

^Archive.org is a mecca for any live music, but has an exceptionally extensive Dead collection. Lord knows my hard drive has suffered heavily.
