Providence, RI (AHN) - A Woonsocket, Rhode Island mother who "did not believe in hiding anything" from her 9-year-old daughter, has been sentenced to three years probation on Monday for having intercourse in front of the child.
Rebecca Arnold and her boyfriend, David Prata have been sentenced to probation and a three-year suspended sentence after the couple pleaded no contest to a felony child neglect charge.
Chief Family Court Judge Jeremiah S. Jeremiah Jr. however spared the young girl, now 11, from testifying. The allegations came into light in December 2004 after the girl went to live with her father in North Adams, Massachusetts, following a summer with her mother in Woonsocket.
According to AP reports, Prata, 33, said he and Arnold, 36, had sex "all the time" in front of the child as they wanted to teach the child but also added that they did not force the girl to watch.
Woonsocket police arrested the couple February 2005 following a report from a teacher who called a child abuse hotline to complaint that the girl said her mother and her boyfriend had intercourse in front of her.

They probably were having a hard time explaining they questions the girl was asking and they thought this might help.
Not the best idea but its not like they were doing it for pleasure.

Yea, I don't think they were doing it to be wierd or perverted but bad idea for parenting. Kids that age don't need to be talking about sex anyways. Some things should be kept behind closed doors..

Agreed. Sex isn't something to be abhorred.

But this definitely isn't the way to go about educating your child.

What do you think parents who lived in small, cramped, quarters would do through out all of history? The native americans lived in teepees... Do you think they sent the children out at night so they could get the lovin' on? I know they wouldn't send them to the tv room to keep them occupied.

I am not saying it is right or wrong, I am simply saying that it has probably happened before and probably on a much wider scale.
