Age Limit

Since is started this thread i will remain unbiast(i can never spell that word) but who here thinks that age limit shouldn't matter?
what ever you say support your argument so this argument can be resolved.
in making this thread i wanted to creat a space where everyone can share there ideas openly so please no personal attack we are here to find a common ground on this issue so the level of accusations and inpersonations will decrease.

This site, and everything smoking weed should only ever be 18+. Under 18, people are too influencial. After 18, most people are mature enough to make their own decisions based on their own knowledge.

I think that 18 is a good age limit since thats the crowd who can legally vote on the issues. I dont really think people should get into weed to much earlier than 18 anyways

I think he means for the site. I don't see why there should be one on here. I mean reacreational use is illegal for any age, so what's it matter if you're 6 or 60? But I do like the fact that we do have more mature posters on here than the average site, I guess that could be credited to everyone being of legal age.

Now, if you're talking about use in general. I would not want to there to be an age limit, but it'd be best if there was one. I think wether or not you should be allowed to smoke should be based on some kind of knowledge about the plant. You should know the physical and mental affects before you ever take your first hit. You should be able to justify it in your life... not just some crap like, "My boy Jake says it fucks you up so I'm gonna smoke all day!"

Now, since there's no decently realistic way to mandate some kind of marijuana knowledge test. It should just be better left to some random age where other responsibilites and privelages are given to you... 18 works. You're a consenting adult, so you should be in charge of what goes in your body and what you do with your time. I think 15 is a good age for a few reasons. It's when a lot of users began smoking, it's when you are most likely to get introduced to the drug (in High School,) the 15 year old brain is developed enough to comprehend everything involved with smoking the herb, it'd continue to be an uphill battle for the government to enforce underrage usage laws just like drinking, plus most importantly... it's the legal age to be employed in this country; if Mommy and Daddy are paying for your bud, you have no right to smoke.

quite a few people under the age of 18 are quite capable of making their own decisions, while many people over the age of 18 are still not capable of doing so

I think an age limit on the site is a great idea, though it clearly doesn't work all the time; you can tell by the nature of some of the threads that they are written by kids. When I join an 18+ site, I don't want silly little schoolboys 'cussing me out', because they think they know better than an old hand 'cos they are unable to believe anything that comes from anyone other than their dozy classmates. Talking to kids these days is bloody hard work.

TBH, as much as there are some great people here, and some great topics( there really are), there is also a Hell of a lot of biased, misguided misinformation, a lot of shit talked, and a lot of very immature and ignorant posting, too.

Imagine how much worse it would be if we didn't have the age restriction?

As for an age restriction on smoking, I'm with Holland; since the brain is (almost) mature at 18 and given the amount of apathetic, drop-out, lazy teens in this world in the past few years, I'd say that's a good, solid age to refuse to sell to under.

It's a good idea in theory...but nearly impossible to enforce. Sure, once in a while some kid trips up and admits he's underage, but most of the time people are only banned because they don't get along with other people.

Then again, you get the percentage of people who take an innocent comment and just pounce, "What!? You're in high school/live at home/don't have a car? Uh, you gotta be 18 to be on here!" That definitely gets irritating. They make it their mission to be the age police.

I don't think that there's an overwhelming problem with immaturity, I just wish people would exercise more discretion when making threads. No one uses the search button and there hundreds of repetitive threads every week.

There's an age restriction on this site for legal issues. The content here is for adults only. Allowing minors to join this site would be similar (not completely similar, just using this as a comparison) to allowing a minor to join a porn site.

You do know that smoking weed while your body is still developing (and even afterwards in some cases) can cause (or trigger) some forms of psychosis, right? I have read many reputable studies that have all shown this to be true.

Legal age to work in the US is actually a lot lower than 15. In some cases children as young as 6 are allowed to work (in entertainment)... You're allowed to be a paper-boy at age 11, and you can baby-sit at 12. But to actually get your working papers for normal-people jobs (like at a McD's or BK for example) you need to be 14... This also varies by state - these are just the ages for PA

I agree with the age limit. People under the age of 18 are probably responsible for 90% of the worthless stuff on this site i.e. thc worms, my mommy found my stash, fight starting, and so on.
