Dilemma

I need some helpful advice from you guys. I am a college freshman living in the dorms at UAB (Birmingham). I started smoking back in November and I have just done it on the weekends mainly. There's something I don't like about my school though...I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but I just feel like I don't belong here. I would like to go to UAH (Huntsville). If I went there, though, I would probably have to live with my straight-edge aunt and uncle. I have cousins who also live in Huntsville and smoke (he's actually my connection - we both have parents halfway between Bham and Hville). And I'm having trouble making up my mind about what to do. This might not even make sense to you guys lol. I don't know if I should stay at UAB (where I don't know anybody else who smokes) and try to get an apartment for next fall, or should I transfer to UAH (where I know more ppl who smoke). I know how stupid this probably sounds, and I'm honestly not trying to pick my school according to where the green is, but I want it to be fairly easy for me to smoke wherever I go to school. I just need some outsiders' opinions please. Anything will help.

seems like the answer is obvious. i dont think that choosing what college you should go to is somthing that you should decide based on weed, but if your not happy at UAB then why not UAH? If your worried about your aunt and uncle killing your smoke habbits, its easy to avoid them ever knowing, trust me.

I will say that going from living on your own to under a parent figure's roof is no picnic, i've done it twice. If you don't feel like you belong at UAB, you don't belong at UAB. Just know that a transfer isn't always instantly awesome. Just do what you feel like you should and don't look back.

I'm just a people-pleaser, and it's hard to make decisions when I'm taking everybody (parents) into account. My mom wants me to stay at UAB because it's a better school, and has a better nursing school than UAH (I'm going into nursing).

Are they both University of Alabama? Just different campuses?

If so, go to Huntsville. If they have a nursing program, you will get the same education and your degree will still carry the same value... I mean, a degree from the University of Alabama is prestigous no matter what campus you went to. And if you know people already at UAH, it will be a better enironment plus you will have possible roommates. Tell your aunt, uncle, and parents that you like living on your own and you want to stay in a dorm at UAH or you could rent a house with your cousin and/or friends up there... a house would be way tighter than a dorm.

But just remember, it's an american college... there are plenty of stoner friends to be made. And since you only started smoking in November, then probably took off for winter break, you just haven't had much time to meet your type of people. I'd say give the rest of this semester a shot and see how things go and who you meet.
