Organic Food

Lately I have been switching over to eating alot of 100% organic food and free-range meats, and I have to say I think they taste alot better (especially when high ). One big reason I switched over to organic stuff is that I learned that pigs these days that are bred to be eaten are genetically engineered to be close to 6 feet long and skinny so they can get more pork chops out of them, not to mention they never step a foot outside of the warehouse they live in.

Anyways I was just wondering if anyone else on GC enjoys organic food as much as I do, and if you do, what is your favorite organic food and do you have any reccomendations?

Everything tastes better natural. Homegrown is even better. This year, we had lettuces, tomatoes, chillis, runner beans, courgettes, mange tout and some herbs.

I like to know where my food is coming from; I've seen what happens in these factories and stuff.

My practices have collapsed by my own standards, but are still pretty strong compare to the average joe.

I used to eat Ital food, which was incredibly expensive, difficult, time-consuming and not fulfilling. It's difficult in a first world country, let's face it.

I still try and do the best I can without major compromises, I still haven't found my balances, this is a phase of apathy more than anything. I avoid most processed foods, where I can. I avoid certain chemicals and substances at ALL costs.

There is definitely room for improvement.

I have to say that when I get a chance I take organing/freerange anyday. Youre right, the food just tastes a lot better, when I get my own place I hope to get a garden up , I tell ya for me there is nothing that smells or tastes better than home grown garden tomatoes. And Chocolate. And weed.

I do when I can. I don't do the shopping in my house, so I eat what's brought home.

I envy you big time right now.

I switched to vegeterian a little over a month ago now- and come spring time I want to start growing a minimum of 50% of my own food.

I'm just now making sure everything I eat is organic- I'm about 90% there

yo be careful, there is a loophole in the organic sticker which allows companies to toss that sticker on there without the food actually being organic, i read this somewhere i cant remember the specifics, but just realize that fact. plus, a lot of the reason why it tastes better is because of the placebo effect

One of my friends had a pig named Dinner. 5 bucks says you can guess what happened to it.

I'm in the UK, so it's only a half a year thing, sadly! I want to emigrate back to my roots when I am older, to Mid France, where the climate is better.

I'm very seriously considering vegetarianism myself at the moment. I haven't been comfortable with the idea of eating meat for a while now, and I really feel like a hypocrite, knowing that, when I do go to the country, I would be unable to kill my own dinner.

I have lapses, like everyone, and I have drunk rather a lot of inorganic Champagne this week but I try hard not to eat too much stuff from packets.

I started eating whatever back in 1996 when I move to Kitchener when I found that having to buy my organic foods was a small fortune. I really enjoy growing my own veggies and raising my own meats so i fianally got back to the farm where we started from scratch again. It's alot of work but has some wonderful rewards IMO. I do miss the convenience of city at times but not often. Yay to good wholesome foods! Talking about is making hungry, later!
